Damn Monday night game. Couldn’t watch, but just as well. I hate Alabama and it hurts to see that the Buckeyes lost to them. Not enough “Hang on Sloopy” for this lopsided game.

Is there anyone else out there who is totally disinterested in the National Championship game ?
Why don't they just have the wealthy boosters for each team go out to midfield and stack up all the money they can beg, borrow, or steal.
Then count the total for each team and award the championship to the one that has the most money. Might as well put Phil Knight out there as well, I am sure he would be competitive.
I am still astounded that people are willing to spend so much of their time and money on the completely stacked deck that college football is.
I guess I should not be surprised given that people gamble away billions at Casinos, lotteries, etc.
What is the famous saying-"A Fool and his money are soon parted"
If only it could be teams like Purdue, Rice, Illinois, Boston College, etc.

Saban gonna retire after this Not even close. 7 NC, gonna be 70 next year. Team loses a ton A la LSU last year. He is also shrinking, dude looks like he's about 5x5" now. Of course, they are probably still favored to win NC next year...Ohio St, Clemson, all the big players are losing a ton of key starters. Except OK, next year might be their best shot. Maybe we will see a random team make it next year. If he doesn't retire, props to him. He has a chance to go out on top with one of the best teams ever. If he comes back at his age dude must really love the grind.

Seems to me from things I see that he really enjoys himself in practice when he's not pissed off during in, pre, and post game interviews. I could easily be wrong, that's just what he strikes me as. I know a guy like that in construction. Has tons of money. He told me last year that everybody keeps telling him he should retire, but he loves what he does and doesn't want to because he has no other big interests. I won't have that problem!

Lost 2 WRs in the first rd last year and replaced that with the Heisman winner and another projected first rounder w/Waddle. It's nuts having 9 guys drafted and winning the NC in a blow out the following year. They reload on a whole different level. I imagine they'll start the season ranked 1 or 2.

They will have double that in this year's draft, perhaps as many as 12 or 13 on first 2 days, including most of their offense and 5 or 6 key defensive players. They certainly do reload quick, but new OC, QB, RBs, starting WRs and TE and 4 of 5 olineman? Although their back up WRs were on fire last night. I finally figured out who Mac Jones reminds me of, big, slow, accurate. Tom Brady.

I have always considered the SEC advantage to be the OL AND DL . They recruit the best guys in the Country based on performance , size, strength and speed.. These type of guys are hard to find for anyone .. but BAMA , etc also, succeeds wildly with thiese groups. This is everyone else's pipe dream !

It's really sad how many of these elite teams will be QBd by west coast QBs that cou be playing in the Pac 12 if it wasn't the worst P5 conference. Georgia, Oklahoma, Clemson, Bama, tOSU, ISU, all have QBs projected to start from CA or AZ.

I watched a bit of the game early, but as much as I love college football, the championship drive won't have much of an appeal as march madness until they expand the play-offs to 8 and hopefully 16 teams. It's virtually the same six or so teams in the final four every year. Alabama,Clemson,Ohio St.,Georgia,Notre Dame and Oklahoma. I want to see a Cincy,or a hot team be able to make a run like we see in hoops...maybe an underdog I can root for like we see in MBB. Just my opinion...

I agree , or at least a legitimate play in game including 6 teams in the first year of expansion . I, probably like many others, would really enjoy the game much more if it included a team that could be the sleeper, or dark horse that other fans, could get behind ! Everyone loves an exciting upset . As a Beaver fan, what games do you remember most? - upsets over USC, the fiesta bowl win over Norte Dame and some unlikely rivalry wins?

I don't care about this game. The last six years, Alabama or Clemson has appeared. Dull. Ohio State has appeared four times in the CFP over the last seven years. Dull. Two dull old-money teams. If there was a way for them both to lose the game, I would root for that. I really was hoping that Notre Dame would beat Alabama, in order to make the Championship Game interesting. Could be worse, North Dakota State has won 8 of the last 10 FCS championships. I too wish new teams were making it, but never at the cost of Notre Dame having success in anything... The issue with college football isn't so much money, it is really simple supply and demand. There are not enough elite players to feed 130 division 1 schools, and elite players accumulate around elite schools that give them the best chance to make the NFL. Yes, money and booster support go a LONG ways to enticing these young men and making a school elite, but even in a world were we could implement some kind of salary cap-esque solution, a world we could have some kind of global football budget for every team, the supply and demand problem would exist, and elite players would finds something else... be it the simple legacy, the winning culture, be it the school, the location, or any perk that cannot be controlled for. Yeah it is money now, but money is just a symptom of the problem. The world isn't fair and elite players do not grow on trees. Good players go to where you win. One you start winning, it becomes easier to keep on winning. I think the transfer portal has done wonders to even the playing field out. Real good players that are stuck behind a superstar have an out. I think we need to take it a step further and eliminate the waiting year even... But to save the post season, I think you only have two options: completely eliminate an idea of a national champion/playoff and go back to bowls OR.... Actually run a real playoff. This in-between stuff leaves everyone annoyed. I think the latter is where it probably needs to go. I am a fan of traditions and I liked the bowl system in the past, but we drifted this direction for a reason... People are compelled to crown a real champ... so lets do it right!

I'm not putting words in ANYONE's mouth, but I'm curious how people who are disinterested because of the lack of parity think a playoff would solve anything? With even 16 teams, Bama destroys BYU, Cinci, and then ND and Ohio St. The only thing this does is punish the best teams and increase the risk of injury. What will people be saying when the next Mac Jones, Devonta Smith and Najee Harris get hurt vs 8-3 Iowa State in the round of 16?

Is the current system any better where we have only a couple games that matter, and a bunch of top players sitting out of most of the bowl games? Once players know their teams have no shot at a title, what is their incentive to play the rest of the season? The guys who only want to play in the league are the ones I'm talking about. If we have some success from others than the half dozen powers in college football,we will have some more parity in college football. Maybe reducing the scholarship limits to 70 to give college football more parity. We were at 105-110 in the 1980's...now at 85. Just a possibility...

I know ratings are down in all sports, but the game Monday was down 27% over the game in 20. The play-offs need a reset or will continue to drop in interest.
