We need to find a 2-gap DT who can line up in zero technique. Would make Tibs' job a LOT easier. And I just want a million dollars! We'll see whose wish comes true first. There are 3-4 NFL defenses who can't find a true 0-technique two-gap DT. In other news, and I know that I have said this for at least five years, the 3-4 still sucks at Corvallis. I take umbrage with your assertion that this is not an achievable task. The gulf between a true zero-tech two-gap DT in the NFL and a 2 gap DT *who can line up in zero tech* [edit: in college is the obvious inference here] is an absolute ocean. We've had a number of bodies who could play that role. Paea obviously is the first that comes to mind and I doubt anybody will argue with me about his ability to play the zero tech. Dwan Edwards is clearly the prototypical wide body space eater you can hold up as an example. But there has been a host of others who you could line up in zero tech at the college level and execute. Sir Henry Anderson Curtis Coker James Lee Elu Aydon Kalani Vakameilalo Jalen Grimble Kyle Peko Bud Delva Siale Hautau Those are just the ones that I can think of from the last several years.

Not really as rare, mathematically, as everyone makes it out to be. I’d rather have to find one “nose guard” Than two high quality 4-3 DEs and a classic sideline to sideline MLB, cause unless this three players are good the 4-3 doesn’t function agains modern offenses. Having an extra linebacker just adds versatility against today’s sideline to sideline, balance oriented offenses. And there’s more recruits that are Olinebacker size/speed available than hand on the ground DEs. At least we’re not arguing about Bankers 4-3 being outdated anymore!
