That really didn’t age well lol. But after the Wyoming game I definitely didn’t see any posts suggesting we’d even make the tourney finally….much less win a game in it. Glad we were all wrong on that

Tinkle was always a very smart coach. The set plays were usually great. It was fun to watch. The issue was always recruiting. He was never able to recruit a quality 1 or 4 to go with our (generally) great 2s, 3s and 5s. I am curious to see in seasons going forward, if Tinkle's coaching can keep up with the bump in talent.

I have a differing opinion on his "set plays". About the only thing I agreed with Baseba111 about Tinkle was that the Beavs offense was lacking, he was more vocal about it and more critical. The first couple years here his offense seemed to be much more geared towards winding down the 45 second clock then whoever had the ball last would throw up a shot with 2 seconds left. There were more plays to get Tres open for a 3 pointer in that second year, but still it seemed to me that the offense was lacking. The stifling defense was what largely kept them in games and got them to the tournament that second season. After Gary P. left it did seem they were more involved in trying to run set plays. Some of the plays were pretty good and I'd noticed good improvement, but I still don't think they really focused on the offensive scheme until last year when Wayne gave the offense to one of his assistants and he focused on the defense. It really came together at that point. I think Wayne is really a great defensive coach. When he came here I'm pretty sure he said he wanted the team to be a great defensive team and the offense would build off of that, but I don't think the offense is his forte and whichever coach did take it over (I'm not sure who it was) I hope is here for a long time along with Wayne and the others.
