Goforth starting is not surprising to me, indeed, I pretty much expected it... However, several on this board have suggested that Jas might get the early nod because of her familiarity with the program and because of the expected uptick in her game that quite a few on this board have been waiting for, even expecting....
An exhibition game provides a pretty minimal data base for understanding anything about this team, but it's fun to speculate, to make educated guesses about what's going on behind the curtain. And this time of year that's pretty much all we have... GO BEAVS!!

Who starts in an exhibition game against a grossly overmatched opponent is meaningless. Who starts in 2 weeks against Oregon - that is meaningful.
My guess, however, is that it will be Goforth.

I think it's probably been a while since you filled out a starting line-up card. In my experience, writing down the starting line-up is NEVER meaningless. Maybe you're searching for another word. GO BEAVS!!

indiangrad - - whoever you are, thanks for the post about last night's game. Special thanks also for the info on Kennedy Brown. Not GOOD news, but at least it is some news.... Goforth as starter is also, to me, interesting.... GO BEAVS!! A 5 star recruit who Rueck has called the best athlete in the history of the program starting really doesn’t seem too surprising to me, but I’d be interested to hear your perspective. Goforth is also a MAA and a lot folks penciled her in as a starter over Simmons. Jasmine really needs to elevate her game (as she did in Italy) if she wants more PT, now with Sasha and Savannah Samuel on board.

5 in double figures last night led by Mack.(17?) Starting lineup of Mack, Goforth,Jones,Goodman,Corosdale. The only starter not in double figures was Goodman. They run and shoot the three. Subasic from WSU will help and can shoot the three. Weber St was outmatched and overwhelmed. All played! Brown on crutches. Fun team to watch! We will know more as competition gets better. If what you are reporting is correct, other than Brown being on crutches, I'm pretty happy with this report. Mack being the leading scorer is something I expect quite a bit this season. 4 starters in double figures is good news. I like that Sasha is starting early. I think most of us expected her to start early in her career, but starting from game one bodes well in my mind. Besides the fact that she is an all around quality player, I'm thinking her defence may be the most important factor in her starting. I hope it doesn't mean that Jasmine's game still hasn't developed as much as most of us would like. I'm guessing Jovana was the 5th player in double figures. This should not surprise anyone. She was a starter for Washington State last season, and she averaged over 8 points per game. It's going to be great having her come off the bench. It may not be accurate to read into this game since I didn't see anything, and only have this report to go by, but I like what I hear from this start, and I'm looking forward to see how things go on Saturday.

I agree with rmancarl above and also really looking forward to seeing them play Sat. on the live stream even though its against an even weaker opponent than Weber St.....For me I'm most looking forward to seeing Jelena M. finally play in a game....I hope all the hype about her game is for real cause at 6'9" she could be a real difference maker off the bench for this team. Also looking forward to seeing if Taya is back to her sophomore season form after the long re-hab....She could be another big difference maker this year. And of course also looking forward to seeing the 3 new freshman especially Sasha G. and all her 5-star hype and "best athlete ever coached" hype, but also realizing that you can never fully judge how good a freshman is until later in the season or in many cases until their sophomore year!

Well, the Pac-12 network is not carrying OSU's game today, as no "live stream" is identified (see WBB events in right column). live stream is identified for the other 3 Pac-12 games today. So, unlesss OSU carries the live stream independently, I think we out of luck. pac-12.com/sport/womens-basketball

If you go to osubeavers.com and click on the 'women's basketball to open season' (or whatever it actually says) headline on the right side of the page, the article states that a live stream will be provided and a link will be available on the home page.

Good find. Let's hope it works. The link takes one to the Pac-12 network....so, let us hope this is all true. If true, both OSU and the Pac-12 Network should do a better job keeping ALL related pages/possible links up to date and in agreement, which at present, they are not.
