Tariq has an ankle concussion. You don’t see that everyday It’s combination of a cut and a contusion. Actually I thought the announcers did say he had a concussion at some point too.

Nice win. Got a little close there, but they held on. All the newcomers had overall positive performances. Liked that Lucas is trying to expand his game, but at least at this point I think he needs to stick to spot up shooter. I think he was 2 for 9. But have to love his FT shooting.

71-63 FINAL! Great start to the season. Would've liked to see us keep it to 10-15 points and not let them back in at the end, but I can't really complain otherwise. A game we were in control of for 30-35 minutes against much more solid competition than we're used to seeing this early in the season. Solid contributions from a bunch of different guys, some returners and some newcomers as well. 10 guys played and we still had two players out with injuries that should contribute as well.
This team might be a lot like year 1 of WT, where we need solid team O and D to be successful. I saw a lot of things to be encouraged by tonight, and we get another good look next week @wsu. Definitely agree this was not the look of a team that's gonna finish 12th.

Hard to find anything to complain about tonight. Frankly, I was surprised that the quality of the play was as good as it was. Between having so many new players and the constraints on practice, I was expecting a slop-fest. We had 9 TOs in the first half, but only 4 in the second (despite a lot of 3/4-court pressure). We outrebounded Cal 43-32, gave up only 7 fast-break points, had 14 assists to Cal's 9. Ethan didn't seem comfortable playing the point but still has a 6:3 Assist:TO ratio. Lucas had a terrible time getting his shot off (2-9), but got to the line a lot. It seems like everyone had a decent start and there aren't any glaring holes . . . and that's pretty surprising for a first game.
Not as surprising as seeing Alatishe for the first time. That kid is special.

Alitisha is the real deal. Love his scrappiness. Andela adds some toughness on the boards too. Really like the upgrade in athleticism. Going to be a fun team to watch as the coaches figure out who are the best combinations to play together.

I only got to see the second half ... I loved watching Alatishe move. I think that guy could pick up any sport on earth and master it in less than a year ( maybe not Sump wrestling ),. Was also impressed with the rebounding. It still looked a little like Tinkle ball, because they just quit taking the three. We are going to need a consistent pair of guys to hit the crucial three balls in most games. May be fun to watch this year!

Pleased to see a mostly different style and team in general. The Nicholls St dude is such a difference maker. I thought our team showed a lot better athleticism on the boards and on D. Once we finally get a real point guard running the show (Hunt hopefully can do it) then who knows how far this team can go

I’m a black belt in sump.

Hunt suffered a concussion: Thanks for posting that. I think the announcers mentioned JC transfer Silver also had concussion. That appears to tell us who bumped heads during practice.

Watched the game whilst stuck at work, thank you Comcast for allowing me to tap into my home network - this is easily the most athletic squad we've had in some time. There are a few of the remaining "old guard" who are going to have to fight for playing time, and we had great effort against an improved Cal team. Things I didn't like: lack of fast break efforts, tho that might come down to time on the floor together. And for the love of all of us who are slow, why did Silva come out to the top of the key and hack a guy shooting a three?
Handled pressure really well, people were trying to run a motion offense, and people were hitting the boards hard. They should feast on that Friday game against the little school.
