The mighty Beavs add another baseball weapon to their arsenal with the addition of Jayden Holloway, a fleet outfielder with a fast bat from Seattle. Plus potential for this prospect. The 2023 class has now swelled to 10 commitments, two years before they will sign their NLI's. The class has taken on a definite Pacific Northwest flavor with 7 of the 10 commits from Oregon and Washington.
Holloway at 15, is 6'3', 173 and attends Seattle Prep HS. He is a teammate of 2023 SS commit, Reeve Boyd. Jayden is very athletic, and has played all 3 OF positions displaying excellent range (6.75 Sixty speed), a strong arm (83 mph OF-Velo), and accuracy throwing to the bases. A contact hitter who peppers the gaps with line drives (Exit Velo is 87 mph) with developing power (a 335' blast as a freshman), he uses his acceleration on the base paths to frequently take extra bases.
Is very active playing summer ball. Has played in numerous high-profile tournaments and plays "up" with the Seattle City Showcase 18u (Seattle Baseball Academy) Travel Team. Played with the PNW Freshman Select team in Regional and Arizona MLK Tournaments. Plays in the Seattle Premier League Summer schedule with City Baseball.
Interested in Science, Math and Technology at OSU. Carries a 3.47 GPA at Prep.

Exciting, but how many of these kids will stick and not go for the $$$$ . Long time to think about the choice for the kids , the league and the school. Abel was our biggest recruit ever ( I believe), and we never seemed to have a chance !

Unfortunately, we will be in that boat for the next few years. The better you recruit, the more you are exposed to the draft. Schools like Vanderbilt, Florida and UCLA go through it every year.
It's the nature of the beast.

Agreed, that’s why it would be nice to move the baseball draft to seniors - not going after the junior year or 21 yoa ! Almost every kid requires the 4 years to demonstrate consistency in performance and to get schooling behind them. Many do not go back to school , even if it is paid for . Everyone can use two paths to success, especially since baseball does not always play out !
