I'm hearing rumblings of a 4 game weekend in Surprise against some Big 10 schools followed by a 4 game series against Grand Canyon in Phoenix. Anyone else hearing anything?

Kendall's tweet --
BREAKING: The @bigten Conference will not have non-conference games aginst non #BigTen teams in 2021 in baseball or softball, sources tell @d1baseball. Coaches, however, are expected to aim for as many games as possible. More to come.

Coaches, however, are expected to aim for as many games as possible. More to come. They are getting way ahead of themselves. I don't see why they have to go that route this early. Season isn't supposed to start in February. Maybe they still have to do it but in my opinion it is way too early to decide that.

Agreed, with the uncertainties surrounding COVID and the vaccines, it seems a bit early to commit one way or the other. But, assuming that Michigan State is 'out', it's fortunate that there are quite a few college teams within fairly easy travel distance to Surprise AZ to 'fill in' for the Spartans. Maybe UNLV or Dixie State (St. George, Utah, D-I or D-II ? they seem to be moving 'up' to the WAC .....they were 15-3 in 2020).

Are we permitted to play a school with "Dixie" in its name?

Like Boise State used to be Boise J.C. it used to be Dixie Junior College back in the day.
Our Ryan Gipson coached at Dixie State prior to his stint at LBCC.
New Mexico State could motor over from Las Cruces. They're competitive.

As long as Gov. Brown is in charge, no one will be seeing the Beavs play in person this coming spring. The crowd is a huge factor in home games and I don't see it happening even if you are wearing a mask or not. We will be lucky to have those Arizona Games not cancelled. She has already extended the indoor Mask Mandate until May 4th. Go Beavs!

IMHO it's less about WHO is Governor, and more about the fact that the past 11 days (11/5 - 11/15) represent the 11 highest days for new Oregon COVID cases during the entire Year 2020 (Averaging about 900 cases per day). And it could well accelerate from present. Hopefully vaccines will be available, to at least medical personnel and high risk individuals, by the traditional start of College Baseball Season (mid-Feb.). With both Pfizer and (now) Moderna showing promise, that may be realistic. I'm sure hoping that the Surprise AZ series works out. The stadium seats 10,500, plus huge grass area beyond the OF fence. Typical crowds have been 2,500 to 3,000....and 2021 may see a decrease in attendance ...so smart choices for viewing should be available. And, by the time Corvallis home season (or certainly the PAC-11 Season) rolls around, vaccine availability just may save the day. I'm a 'glass half full' fan. Go Beavs! Can't wait to see Darwin Barney/Joey Wong in an OSU uniform.
