The Kansas City Royals have been conducting two instructional camps for their top pitching prospects following the 2020 draft in June. The Royal's advanced pitching prospects in their minor league system have been receiving instruction and throwing in Kansas City at Kaufman Stadium. That group includes Jackson Kowar, Alec Marsh, Daniel Lynch, and Jonathan Bowlan. It also includes their prized draft pick (1st round - 4th pick) Asa Lacey from Texas A&M who received $6.7m to sign. Lacey throws 98 mph, has 3 plus pitches and could end up with the big club next spring.
The Royal's young pitching prospects have been receiving lots of instruction, and playing a lot of games in the Arizona Instructional League at the KC spring training facility in Surprise. The young group is led by Christian Chamberlain, Will Klein, and Ben Hernandez. The Royals AIL Team also has on display, Wilmin Candelario, the 17 year old SS phenom out of the Dominican Republic who signed for $847,500 after turning 17. Darryl Collins, a promising young OF from the Netherlands is also playing with Chamberlain. Christian has been electric at times and Royals organization knows they received a lot of value with their 4th round selection.
