Geez. Give her a break. She didn't say that UCLA was going to the Final Four. On the contrary, she said that her team has NOT reached that level, and that teams at that level have certain characteristics that she hopes her team can emulate. What is there to criticize in that?
What are you, her press agent? I don’t have anything against her. But before she starts talking about making Final Fours and winning national championship she might be better served by mentioning some more achievable goals that she has yet to accomplish in her coaching tenure. Are you capable of disagreeing with someone's idea without attacking the person? Try it sometime.

Didn’t Robinson run something like that here with the Men? That’s the big downside - is you don’t have really smart players that read the defense in sync, it just looks like street ball. Regardless, every offense is about creating openings for individual strengths to shine, so I’m personally not a fan of the approach at the collegiate level where a) they aren’t professions and b) they don’t have the practice time of professionals. Rueck already designs defenses to exploit individual decencies and take away strengths, so I’m guessing it doesn’t change a whole lot for us. No, the Princeton offense is not a 5 out offense Robinson didn't run anything close to the Princeton offense once his recruits were in place. It was a common joke on the message boards that we weren't running any offense at all.

Are you capable of disagreeing with someone's idea without attacking the person? Try it sometime. That's an attack? I've met a few press agents and they're very amiable by and large. Even if it might not be an attack on her personally. However, it still is a misrepresentation of what she said. She said nothing about making the final four this season. All she said was that she believes the change in her offense is a step in that direction. She says making the final four and winning a national championship is the objective eventually. She says nothing about it happening this or even next season, only that the change in offense was a necessity in acheiving that goal. Now I have never been a fan of Close and based on her record it is a stretch she wins a Natty, but under the right circumstances UCLA is in the running and in a format like the tournament it is possible. I mean TA&M won one and they were not even close to the best team that year. The favorites all got upset and they even ended up having to go through Baylor who had beaten them soundly 3 times that year. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. In the tournament timing and matchups go a long way. Besides what did you expect her to say- Well we changed our offense because our goal is to win the Pac 12. I mean her words will impact her teams recruiting. Coaches alway guild the lily when it comes to their teams expectations in respect to recruiting. They always present a best case scenaro for the future. You want to strive to do better than you have already done and that step is a final four. Besides the Pac 12 appears to be the best conference in the country, so winning the Pac 12 should make anyone one of the favorites to win the Natty.

Speaking of our foreign team members (I'm the only one that is, it seems), Jelena has indeed slimmed down a lot. Attachments:

Speaking of our foreign team members (I'm the only one that is, it seems), Jelena has indeed slimmed down a lot. I seemed to remember Jas commenting that she and Jalena did a lot of running together this summer and that both are in the best shape they have ever been in. It looks like Jalena really is in shape and that is great. Jas in better shape than ever is downright scary for the opponents.

One thing is for certain: there is no stopping her; Jelena will soon dominate. And I, for one, welcome our new Slavic overlord.

I believe all these reports of players improving them selves over the off season bodes well for the programs future. The desire to get better usually translates into a desire to win when they get on the court. It shows a players character when they recognize areas they can inprove in and take the effort to do so. We see evidence of this in Jones working on her outside game and Jaz and Jelena on reaching their physical potential.
