Nippon Professional Baseball's regular season lasts until November 7th. Stefen Romero is now playing for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. With 12 games to play, the Golden Eagles are 3.5 games back of the Chiba Lotte Marines for a spot in the Pacific Climax Series (the Pacific League's Championship Series) against the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks.
I caught the first five innings of the Golden Eagles' game against the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. Romero was 3/3 with a single, a two-run triple, a double and two runs. (He really needs a home run in the next at bat. I do not believe that any batter has hit for the cycle on the year, and no player has ever hit for the cycle in the Golden Eagles' history--the Golden Eagles were a 2005 expansion team to fill the void left by the Orix BlueWave merging with the Kintetsu Buffaloes at the end of the 2004 season.) Romero also made a nice sliding catch to preserve an early no-hit bid (which was subsequently broken up in the fourth). 6-0 Golden Eagles in the sixth.
The Golden Eagles and Marines have a key three-game series in Chiba next weekend. The Golden Eagles really need to catch fire here over the next two weeks.

They let him try for the cycle, but he hit a base hit to left instead. Romero finished 4/4. Rakuten is on a key nine-game road swing. The next six are going to be crucial, if Rakuten is going to make it to the Climax Series against SoftBank.
