I didn't want to hijack the thread about Aquino. So here's a new one.
The story indicates that she hopes to play this season. How does that change the narrative running on other threads? Where does she fit in [playing time] and what impact do you expect?

I'd just play her around the rim she is athletic enough she could clean up anything 5-7ft around the rim. She is totally unique. Ht/ athletic ability would make her unstoppable defensively. Her offensive game will just be a thing that unfolds spontaneously with the right passers? One man's opinion. If she can play 15 minutes consistently we will be dangerous against anybody. Rueck new this! This will be wonderful if she can get to the court! I guess tentatively I say she is a 4 or PF, KEEP HER AROUND THE BASKET. TOTAL INTIMIDATION. Go beavs

I just haven't seen anything from her since her HS videos, so really hard to say. If she's been developing her game at a steady rate, then she's the type of athlete to build your whole approach around at both ends of the court, as she's that unique. But she was very raw and tentative in the HS clips I saw, so it all depends on what kind of game she's developed since then.

Based on limited info - the clips from HS and what we saw in warm-ups . . . I'd say her skill set is most similar to Kennedy's. She can shoot, she's comfortable handling the ball, and she seems to prefer facing the basket. I see her playing the 4-spot. I believe Ellie is pretty comfortable playing in the 2 or 3 spot, so I can see a tall platoon of Jelena, Andrea, and Ellie on the court at times.

I recognize that privacy laws preclude the release of specific information much of the time, but cannot a basketball team release the names of those players who are medically cleared to play as of any given date? They do it for injuries all the time.
In any event, until it is formally announced that Andrea is cleared to play, I will continue to proceed on the assumption that there's no chance she's ever going to play.

A former coach told me that she is the best player on the team and she has been since she got here. But, the prospects of her ever playing seem unlikely at best.

I think she will play this season and be a major contributor. Her abilities and talent make her a game changer. She doesn't have to be a force on offense but if she can be a rim protector and help limit the other team to more one and done shot attempts then that's huge. Someone get her first throw down on video !

Whichever "coach" Judge Smalls spoke with is being overly enthusiastic as to that assessment that Aquino has been the best player on the team since her arrival. Granted, she has unique length and skill for a 6'9" female athlete, but she still needs to add strength and endurance to complement her unique gifts. Players have said that she could have helped the team during her first two seasons in Corvallis if she had been medically cleared. Look at what she did and the video of Aquino playing at Ribet Academy as a high school senior during the '17-'18 season. You can quickly see areas in which she needed to improve at that time in order to better utilize her height advantage. The best and most efficient player on the team for the upcoming season will be Taylor Jones with or without Aquino being able to compete. Will be for as long as Jones remains in Corvallis. The interview with Aquino gives us all some hope that she may play for OSU one day. However, obtaining medical clearance in order to compete has been an obstacle thus far that she has yet to overcome since her arrival in Corvallis.

It doesn't seem as if anyone really knows if Andrea is going to see the floor or not this year. The fact that Andrea is practicing gives more hope. Not sure if "practicing" means fully immersed in the practices? I noticed in the Ron Callan facebook interview with Coach Rueck, there was no mention of Andrea by Rueck (or Callan). Of course, that could have been scripted ahead of the interview.

It's hard to ignore that she is able to "practice." Even if she sits out of the cardio stuff it would seem like regular drills are enough to get anyone's heart rate up. If there is a risk of her playing isn't letting her practice close enough to the same thing to raise some questions? Maybe there is something to her hoping to play this year.

There seems to be a lot of photos with Aquino in them at practice and participating. Is she going to be allowed some playing time this season?
