One of the greatest OSU athletes ever in any sport. 2X NCAA champion (190 lbs 1973, 1974). Undefeated his Jr and Sr seasons. NCAA tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler award in 1973. Led OSU to a 2nd place team finish at Nationals in '73. From Scappoose, OR. A "fighter through and through".

And a super nice guy. I had him as a teacher at Roseburg High School. He talked to me a couple of times about wrestling. Said it be more fun than hoping to get off the far end of the basketball bench.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his daughters who lost their mom Donna in January. Now Greg is with Donna & The Lord. Great interview with Mike-Jon & Greg in May on KEJO.

Had the misfortune to wrestle Greg in high school. He was the toughest wrestler I ever faced. RIP

Somewhere there may still be a training film of Greg demonstrating various throws on me. After 30+ throws he asked how I was doing and I said just fine. He said "that's Larry you're talking to" and I said "just looking for some water" and Larry said "do I look like a water boy to you?". Larry kindly gave me some water so I could recover a little and went in for another 30+ throws. Both great guys who were determined that all of us were going to be the best that we could be. How someone as strong as Greg could be that fast was just amazing.

I had completely forgotten that he was also the head coach of the USA 2000 Olympic team. Another great honor.
