So the latest rumor I see is that the PAC 12 will resume November 7th ( that is just as soon as pac 12 can get players back to school, in shape and ready for a game). Assuming that is true and they want to have the pac 12 championship game on December 19 (whether to somehow be relevant in the cfp, or at least match up with big10 for post season exhibition games). That leaves 6 Saturday’s to play on, and December 19th for championship and cross division exhibition games.
5 division games and one cross division game. Now supposedly, all the California schools playing each other every year is important, but that wouldn’t be possible in a 6 game schedule. I guess they could guarantee the second north/south California game on December 19th?
Since game day of week doesn’t matter, no fans in the stands, they could play on any day of the week. Would they even consider playing on 6 days between games? This would allow them to get a seventh game in before championship Saturday 12/19.
obviosly October 31st would work much better, will the AD’s make a push for it?

6 game schedule. Sucks but if its the best they can do so be it. So divisional round robbin? Im betting more than one tiebreaker comes in to play to pick division winner.
Is also bet that even if a Pac 12 team goes undefeated they won't make the postseason playoff for NC

Never mind, Pac-12 can’t get their stuff together, delays decision to September 24th. Stanford. Unlike pretty much every other school, Stanford actually sent most of its players home in August. This Big Ten reversal blindsided the Cardinal. Stanford requested that their football players report back by the 25th. The 24th meeting is set up to see, if that happens. Stanford may ultimately need more time. The Trojans and Utes are talking about starting the season at the end of October, even if they are just playing each other. But each also has an independent rival that they also would like to play against, if possible. |

Just curious.....but why is everyone married to a six game schedule? I would think the likelihood of a Pac-12 champ, even if 7-0 with the championship game would be behind an SEC, ACC, B1G or B12 team that got in several more games. And even if the champ is selected for the CFP, what's stopping the rest of the teams from continuing a conference only schedule for a few more weeks. Seems like this would be feasible.

And even if the champ is selected for the CFP, what's stopping the rest of the teams from continuing a conference only schedule for a few more weeks. Seems like this would be feasible. Especially as the likelihood of qualifying for a CFP bowl becomes vanishingly small, and as the liklihood of many bowls nothappening at all this year (no fans attendence, possibly not enough teams to fill spots, etc.) I would like to see the Pac-12 do something bold. How does this idea sit with folks: Do a true full conference round robin, 11 games, let everyone have a bye week still, so a full 12 week season. First weekend of November until the last weekend of January. Still plenty of time to rest and be ready for a real season fall 2021. No conference championship game, best record at the end is the Pac-12 champion. Doesn't matter if you start Oct 31, Nov. 7 or even Nov. 14 since we aren't trying to link up with any bowl scheduale, or Big-10 scheduale for post season. A couple big benefits... There will be plenty of weekends especially late in the year and early 2021 where there will be no other sporting event vying for TV eyes and media attention, etc. And, especially for the athletes, this gives every player in teh Pac-12 a full seasons worth of statistics, reps, etc. better preparing them to get scouted and such for the NFL. |

I woudl have amended to say that there will be no (or few) other College football games going on. For instance... the last few weeks I have watch football games I would have NEVER watched in the past (go Army!), just becasue they are all that is avalible  No one watches early season basketball.... do they??? Regardless, if you are one of only a few college football games going, you will get extra eye balls More game tape and comparable stats to previous years (since it would still be 11 games) might be something that players (and statistitians) like and might help combat all the negative (oh thats the scardey cat league) style negative recruiting? |
