I'm on this simmer as well. What really gets my ire is that if it's a private school, they figure out how to open within the health regulations. But it seems if the school is funded by our taxes, sorry, nothing better can be done but to mail some books and throw some YouTube videos at the kids. Right-wing ads have been spreading fear that the riots are heading to the burbs ... they are right in a way - it just going to be a lot different demographic makeup in those riots. Blame the teachers. Sure. Where exactly did I blame the teachers again?

Thank god I had teachers and not wusses that are afraid to come out and do their job like say a day care worker, a Walmart greeter a grocery store cashier or a truck driver. Teachers are obviously not essential in today’s society. They have proved it haven’t they big boy. When the going gets tough they ask for full pay a sweetheart pension more staff development days and hey no requirement to work a full day. Public teachers and their unions in lib states have proven who they are. Hey in Portland they do a 30 minute session from 830 to 9am. Full pay no cuts, that’s for the tax paying private sector I think Rex Tillerson said it best (and I am paraphrasing, but only slightly), "Dude's a f#$%ing moron." You must be a more recent product of our public education system because the extent of your response to a much different opinion is about all some of these schools teach now. Very clever and well thought out though. Have a great day Francis

Lives are much more important than football or any other sport. I played 11 years of Baseball, 5 years of football... A little basketball.... always have loved college football, basketball and baseball. Love MLB... but I don't want to endanger lives. The PAC is doing this right! Well your wrong sweetheart. I’m a product of the Oregon public school system including Oregon State. I just received my education before Governors and teachers used their leverage to punish the kids and families they work for to obtain a political outcome they want because they have TDS. Have a great day.

Medical people in Corvallis and Albany are expecting a COVID spike in ten days. Students have returned to OSU and are partying away without masks.

I suppose my original post might have seemed a little opaque so I'll try to explain. Two, maybe three, years ago then Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, called Trumpy an effing moron (at least he never denied it). I was simply trying to apply the same sentiment to a previous poster while also taking a small jab at our current cluster f$%k. Apologies for any confusion. Yeah, I knew the reference. I'll stick with my original post.

What a strange, off topic post to make. So bitter. Off topic? Not if your wife's a teacher and and you see how hard they work for little pay and dumba$$ comments like pendletonbeav's. Bitter? Not really; scared for our country? Yeah, a little. Have you calculated the hourly pay you know excluding summers off, staff development days, pers, online vs in class hours the big pay raise the state passed recently. You can’t pay a good teacher enough but all the Oregon teachers union does is ask for more money, newer schools and more time off and are too afraid (more political extortion than fear in my opinion) now to go perform their jobs while the rest of society goes back to work. There is also absolutely no accountability for poor performance in that profession in this state. Your wife maybe the best teacher in the state and if so I have no doubt she’s underpaid because there is no reward for performance it’s all about tenure. Reward based on tenure alone breeds complacency and incompetency not good performance. I put 2 boys through grade school and part of middle school in Texas public schools my daughter through all of her schooling in one of the top school districts in this state and there is absolutely no comparison in the quality of the education. So you can view this opinion as dumb azz because you are emotionally invested in the subject but the fact is there are many that have the same views and their not toothless, uneducated deplorable morons.

Thank you for the clarification and advice. That’s a 10 4 on the State just waiting for the retirement lake house in Idaho to finish up construction.

They are taking these precautions not for public safety but because anyone and everyone more than one inch to the left of you are all conspiring to topple your tin-god. Whatever gets you through the night...

Medical people in Corvallis and Albany are expecting a COVID spike in ten days. Students have returned to OSU and are partying away without masks. Over a month ago I was told that the clientele at Downward Dog on Monroe were not wearing masks. That is a favorite of the OSU students so I have looked whenever I go by there and the majority of people there don't wear masks. And this was when very few students were on campus. My guess is the medical people will be right.
