The last time Oregon State recruited a slick fielding infielder out of Elk Grove, California it turned out exceptionally well - he now plays 2B for the Chicago White Sox.
The Beavs tap the well again, this time it's Aiden Jimenez, a RHP/ SS who will enter OSU with the class of 2022. Aiden at age 16, is 6-2 and 176 with a lean frame and loads of athleticism. Coach Dorman has stated his preference for athletic pitchers and I recall Nate Yeskie mentioning that as well.
As a pitcher, Aiden is a rising prospect. He's humming a lively fastball at 87-88 and has topped out at 91 mph. The velocity has increased steadily from 82 a year ago. He throws two off speed pitches, both with consistency and command. He had earned a position in the Elk Grove rotation in 2020, only to see that wiped out by the Pandemic.
At shortstop, he's a legitimate D-1 performer with all the tools. He's cat-quick, good glove and powerful arm. Jeremy Booth with NorCal Baseball says he has a "tremendous upside". Has good work habits - baseball and the classroom.
Elk Grove is an excellent baseball program with strong coaching and a highly competitive schedule. Aiden's Elk Grove teammate, Eddie Madrigal recently committed to St. Marys. The Sacramento area is known to be a Cornucopia of college talent and MLB Draft prospects. Beaver baseball has had its fair share of it.

This is the text of the Jimenez tweet on Sunday evening, Sept. 6th.
"Sep 6 After a long thought out process and with my family’s help, I have decided to commit to play baseball at Oregon State University! I would like to thank all the coaches that have recruited me. I would also like to thank all my coaches that have helped me get here. #gobeavs"
