Six members of the OSU 2021 recruiting class and one member of the 2022 class played in the prestigious 2020 Area Code games this summer. That's heavy.
Representing the Kansas City Royals team made up of Pacific Northwest athletes, were; Mason Guerra - Portland/ Westview Wilson Weber - Gresham/ Barlow Malakhi Knight - Marysville/ Getchell Dominic Hambly - Victoria/ Belmont Secondary Ian Ritchie - Bainbridge Island/ Bainbridge (2022)

That is correct.
Unfortunately, J.R. "Ian" Ritchie is no longer committed to Oregon State. On Wednesday of last week he was still showing as committed, on Friday he was not. Anytime this situation occurs, you wonder why? If you're curious, you start with the question - who initiated the parting? The possibilities are numerous? To name a few, is he injured or is there pending surgery? Was there disagreement over an issue of some sort? Did he find a different program more suited to his needs?
Ritchie is an excellent prospect, not overly big at 6-2 and 175, but he can really pitch. Sits in the low 90's but bumps 93 and 94 in every game. Has a swing and miss slider and a plus change-up that is very advanced for a HS Junior. J.R. Has a high ceiling, more growth to come and more velo in the tank. Smooth, poised and polished for a 17 year old pitcher.
He has been ranked in a range from #6 to #16 nationally by Perfect Game, has ranged from #13 to #19 by Prep Baseball Report, and is rated the 14th best prep draft prospect in 2022 by Baseball America. The notion that Ritchie would someday take the bump for the Beavers was in all probability, a pipe dream. Currently he projects late first or early second round in the '22 MLB Draft. Using that perspective, he was lost well before he decommitted.
Did the parting catch the Beaver staff by surprise? Well, if you consider their 2022 class has RHP's Tyler Gough, Isaac Hill, Dallas Macias, Connor Pote, Logan Miller, and LHP Nelson Keljo solidly committed right now, that might be indicative of them anticipating a loss - now or in the '22 draft.
Did we need 7 pitchers in one class? I'll bet we "get by" with 6.
