www.nbcsports.com/northwest/oregon-ducks/report-pac-12-may-move-basketball-season-align-ncaa"The Pac-12 may consider moving up the beginning of basketball season from the current January 1 date "if favorable circumstances unfold inside NCAA headquarters and on the campuses," per Jon Wilner of The Mercury News. Among the favorable circumstances would be "evidence of a reduction in community spread and advances in testing that would guarantee same-day results for the campuses." The Pac-12 believes that all players must be tested within 24 hours of all games' completion to ensure no asymptomatic were in attendance."

My first preference would be that all the NCAA move to a January start. Let's make this uniform and give all teams time to reschedule all conference and non conference games. Second choice would be to move the dates up to whenever the rest of the NCAA decides to begin. I just think there are too many variables (one area meets the requirements and another doesn't) to rush the season into this year. I'd love for it to work though, and as soon as possible. I'm tired of watching replays!

I can't wait for our OSU WBB Team to get on the floor! I'm a big sports fan, but OSU WBB is the most enjoyable season of all.

I could see starting mid-December if there will be any non-conference games then start the conference games on time. $5 tests back in 15 minutes with isolating the positives until the confirmatory followup is back is a big step in the right direction, and tests should be relatively plentiful by then.

Basketball is a sport that seems perfect for pooled covid testing if results can be available within about 2 hours. Every player submits a sample about 3 hours pregame that is tested as a pool with their team. If positive for either team, game gets postponed, players individually quarantine, and individual follow-up tests determine if the team can keep playing.

Wouldn't that require a test that is virtually 100% accurate? If you had a test that was, for example, 90% accurate - for every game there would be one of two inaccurate tests results...
I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Covid testing - but I don't think many tests for anything are 100% accurate... Whatever the case, I'm like lotrader and others, I just want to see WBB back on the courts..... GO BEAVS!!

Hmmm interesting take on this from the PAC-12. I’m all in favor of this .....but this sport is played inside a confined building as opposed to football which is played outside....the PAC-12 take on football season seems to be an flip flop approach. But overall Covid cases are continuing to decline in the USA which bodes well for the continued re-opening of this country and getting back to in-person classes and playing sports again.....

Stanford’s rising senior Maya Dodson, a 6-3 forward, has announced she will not play in the 2020-21 season assuming there is one:

An interesting turn of events. At the team level, this won't hurt the Cardinal much as they have an absolutely stacked roster. On the personal side, if some of you run across more info about her decision, I think a lot of us would be interested in hearing about it.
Basically, the thing that interests me is whether this is just a personal decision made for personal reasons, or whether there are larger forces at work which might affect other players and other schools. For me, its more of a curiosity thing than anything else....
I've always liked Dodson's game, and I think if she had enrolled at Cal or Arizona, or any team with a less talented roster, she could have been a star.... GO BEAVS!!

Her biggest issue has been staying healthy. But when available, she's gotten playing time at Stanford, she's just never developed much. Not sure if it would have been different for her at another school.
