It will be interesting to learn if this is the first domino.

A sport that has the worst safety record imaginable cancelled because theoretically a student athlete might have future complications...when pretty much every college football player will have future complications from playing the sport. If my business had the safety record of college football it would be fined out of existence. Count this as a victory for ambulance chasing lawyers everywhere.

Nebraska coach Scott Frost had previously stated that Nebraska might play this season regardless of what the Big Ten decided. It is hard to figure just how that would work. But I’m sure Coach Frost has it all worked out in detail.

Seems like an apples to oranges or maybe even apples to orangutans comparison to me. I don't think any college football player has ever passed their concussion or CTE along to a coach, professor, parent, or grandparent.

But players have certainly delivered concussions to their opponents on the field. Typically just one at a time though.

Okay, so now the players can’t pass Covid on to anyone around them...the magic of not playing football makes them immune to all Covid hazards. Lol. No chance any of those young men and women will go to bars or do any other socializing now, nope, cancelling football will stop all the shenanigans. It’s a f’ing miracle I tell ya.

Seems to me that this gives more players the opportunity to make smart decisions and does not put them (and those around them) at the mercy of how well or poorly other teams may be preventing the spread. Seems to me that the college students I know (including my own son and his friends) have been smarter about Covid precautions than some of the so-called adults I know. Seems to me that just because Covid exposure can happen in many ways that that is not a good reason to put people into situations which greatly increases the chances of it happening. Seems to me that this was the only smart and responsible choice. But, that's all just how it seems to me, so take it for what it's worth.

Look, I get it is a tough call, but the reason they are doing it isn't for 'player safety', it is to prevent lawsuits. To say the players are going to be safer on their own then in a controlled environment where they are constantly being tested is really tough to believe, but there is no doubt that the institutions are much safer from lawsuits if the players aren't playing. Taking the turd out of the schools pocket and putting it back in the players pocket does not make them safer.
