One thing the pandemic has shown is that I get along fine without viewing any pro sports, and I am to the point that potential college sports viewing has dropped well down my list. I wonder what's going to replace football this year? Are people going to be hosting weekend parties in front of the big screen to watch "Man Vs Food" or "Love It or List It"? What's everyone going to do? Parties are a bad idea if we still have any interest in trying to contain this virus.

Containing the virus is like containing a freshman college kid at a sorority bar-b-que.
Give up on it that happening.

And that is very unfortunate. We’re not even trying anymore. As a country, we’ve totally given up.

This was pretty easy to see coming, unfortunately. No difference than the schools that opened up and one week later shut down. There would be outbreaks that spread through teams and staff and support staff, then cancellations and feeble attempts at rescheduling, and in the end little cost benefit to playing the season. Sucks but I think most of us anticipated this. Go Beavs! Really? Because I sure took a lot of crap on this board when I first suggested that this would happen.

What's everyone going to do? It will be like extending summer into the poorer weather months, really. Especially since the kids won't be going back to school. 2020, the Endless Summer. We are calling it: 2020, the summer that wouldn't die.... It's been a crap summer weather wise too, started super late with rain well into June and is ending early. Already quite chilly in the evenings. With schools closing in March it feels like we have already been in summer for going on six months, smh. I am with you though. I am already looking at booking a mid fall camping trip, and maybe a hike up the south sister. Definitely going to Crater lake sometime this fall and smith rock. All socially distanced of course. Close, fun oregon day or two trips that we usually can only do June thru August, but now have no kid sports or school holding us back in the fall and even winter. I know plenty of folks who go snow camping, maybe we will give that a try too Heck, with no football games to pay for I could probably afford a new/better tent

Pac 12 is committing competitive suicide at the bidding of another conference. Will not be long before the Big 10 swoops in and snags UW, USC, Stanford and maybe the sucks to expand their market across the country....

College football players are now at greater risk by not being in a controlled environment that has been very successful at least at Oregon state, then when they go back home, the dorms or their apartments. They have essentially been quarantined so it’s also more likely they will spread it to others in their home towns or on campus. More will contract covid or be at risk of other health hazards then they would be playing football. No doubt none of these metrics will be tracked because no one cares. The pac 12 made a good financial decison disguised as concern for players safety. Let the noise die down relative to the effort to extort half of their revenue, avoid lawsuits, no fans anyways in some states and hopes that we have a vaccine in place by the end of the year and we get the right election results so covid dies in more ways than one. If they play next spring it’s a win win.

Well, Putin’s already got a vaccine, so maybe that’s what he meant.

I didn’t realize Vladimir had developed a proven vaccine. Has he? if so that is great news isn’t it? Thanks for sharing.
