Has anyone located specific information concerning Adlee's reported injury?
The local newspaper writer in Lubbock who wrote her story is Alexis Cubit. She has a twitter account - but I don't. Maybe someone can contact her to see what's actually going on with this story....Thanks... GO BEAVS!!

I'm wondering how many of us enquired, if she is tired of OSU fans yet !...but here is her response "I'm not able to confirm but can provide more insight when the basketball season rolls around. Adlee was a big part in her school winning back-to-back state titles so I'll have more information when we do our preseason teams around October-ish."

Thanks greybeav. It would seem that, if there is an injury, the family wants to keep it quiet. Although I always want every tidbit of information I can get, I'm fine with them being quiet (again, if there is an injury). Although it may slow her development a little, I don't think any of us need to be concerned about her talent and I remain about as excited about this commitment as any I can remember, and we've had some very good ones lately! Now, if beav74 would only give us some names on who is coming in to help this season. It's hard to wait for good news.

greybeav - - thanks for reaching out to get some first hand info on Adlee's injury..... I've arrived at the point where I'm more interested on why there is no information on the injury than on the injury itself....
Alexis Cubit is the writer who wrote a feature article on Adlee in the Lubbock paper the day after Adlee announced her commit to OSU...In the article were several first-hand quotes from Adlee. So the question I have is what kind of brain dead sports writer can conduct an entire interview with an athlete, write a complete article about her, and not have the wits to determine if this same athlete has recently experienced a major injury.
Alexis says "more insight when the basketball season rolls around." So, the best basketball player on your beat might be injured and miss the entire season, and your only insight is - gee, I'll just wait until the season gets started down here, and then I'll know.
Every girl's coach within 100 miles of Lubbock knows whether Adlee has been injured, and this simpleton has to wait until the season rolls around to see if she is on crutches.
Sorry about the rant....2nd rate journalism drives me nuts....But 1st rate journalistic laziness is even worse.....
If Alexis Cubit applies for a job at your newspaper, ask her if she has the wits to figure out whether the most recognized h.s. athlete in town is injured.... That's it....I'm done...... GO BEAVS !!

Maybe it has something to do with privacy stuff.

Part of me understands the privacy issue, but most of me thinks it is carried to the extreme, as so many things seem to be these days. What is the big deal about publicly acknowledging that a high school athlete has a torn acl? Everyone at the game saw it and knows it. All her friends know it, so the entire high school knows it. That pretty much means everybody in Lubbock knows it.
Just makes no sense to me.

So maybe we could back off the hyperbole a little?

Take a breath. I'm sure that covering Lubbock HS girls basketball is not where the paper puts it's most experienced and best writers. Also, the interview was probably done over the phone or web, so a brace or cast would not be visible. Let's cut some slack to one another.

Her injury would be of more interest to her high school than it would Oregon St. At most she will have to sit out her Junior year which more than likely would be shortened if played at all. She should be good to go once she gets to Oregon St. This was the same situation that Taylor found herself in and she was good to go. The only impact it will have on her would be her recruitment rankings just as it affected Taylor Jone's. She will need her Sr year to get back into the flow.

I thought he hinted that we would have a fifth-year senior who is known for high arching 3 pointers.

Maybe....he mentioned "additions to the roster" this was after Ana Faustino had already announced she was going to be part of the program. Others speculated that "additions to the roster" meant Kat. I would love it if she was the/an addition. I'm just not sure this was the addition hinted at by beav74. We'll know soon enough. Actually, it's never soon enough for me, but I'll survive until we find out.

.Alexis says "more insight when the basketball season rolls around." So, the best basketball player on your beat might be injured and miss the entire season, and your only insight is - gee, I'll just wait until the season gets started down here, and then I'll know. The uncertainty of this response might be related to the extent of the injury. If it is a partial tear they might think surgery is un-necessary and it might heal on it's own even allowing her to play her Jr season. I hope this scenario does not repeat what transpired with Dukes Rebecca Greenwell- She was injured entering her Sr year, opted not to have surgery rather continued to play so she could help her team win another state title. It got worse during the season but she still choose to play in the McD AA game which resulted in a complete tear as well as creating additional damage that made the surgery more complicated and extensive. She not only missed her freshman season at Duke but was still in recovery mode the following season. The people around her, parents and coaches, should have never allowed her to make such a stupid decision. It is questionable that she ever really made it back 100%. Winning a state title is not worth a players future career. The parents response was that she did not want to let her teammates down. In these cases it is always better to be err on the side of caution and not gamble with a players future just because of peer pressure by teammates. Ps. They didn't win the State anyway.

Actually, it's never soon enough for me, but I'll survive until we find out. Let me first say that I have no insider information in respect to this. My comment is just pure speculation. I might be possible that if Kat has already been granted an additional year, the delay in announcing it might be because of a decision when to use that year has not been decided. I mean it is not exactly clear there will be a season or how many games it would even involve. Would it make sense for someone who needs a good Sr season to waste it on a very limited amount of games? The committee, if they granted her an additional year of eligibility might not be willing to extend that even if the season turned out to be abbreviated. Just a thought!
