I have seen this live and in person. Far enough away that you should use good binoculars because you want to be able to get to your rig and get out of Dodge before they get to you. They are big, FAST, mean, and hungry. Same thing with a moose, especially momma, they just want to kill you to protect themselves and their offspring. I learned that one winter. I was told by the guy I was with, as he gave me a .44, If he/she charges you drop him/her you are toast. Self defense out of season is OK. I did ask the experienced guy why I got to go first with the howitzer and he told me it was because I was a better shot.

I never worried about out running the bear.......I always made sure I could out run my companion Go Beavs!!

Lived in Alaska for a couple of years right out of OSU but never got to see this. Now I live in Brooks.....there's gotta be some irony here somehow.

Has anyone ever done a study to answer the question: how many fish actually make it up that waterfall? Talk about evolution by survival of the fittest.
Or do the ones that don't make it up just say forget it, let's go downstream a little to get away from the bears and just spawn there.
