It was fun early at PK, and of course I rubbed it in with the "You Can't Buy You Way To Omaha!" sign. That torqued off a few duck fans, but who cares? Then it got grim and sucked big time. Then it got better, and hole fans started to bail in the top of the 9th. Such bandwagoners. Then it sucked again, and then we finally won on a pop up that didn't fall between two fielders. A lot of fun moments, and a lot of stressful ones too. That was way too close for comfort.
BTW, that home run robbing catch above the top of the fence by Nobach was pretty terrific. Too bad he landed badly and dropped it. He had it snowconed in his glove. So close, but yet so far.

I'm just glad that the learning experiences that will be taken from this game have a W next to them instead of an L. Especially, for Hamilton who after all had the key Beaver hit of the night.
Chiefly, that relief pitchers need to throw strikes, rather than 'perfect' pitches that when they miss by a couple of inches are inevitably called "balls". And that pop-ups require a demonstrative "take charge" attitude. Oh yeah, and that 8-0 leads aren't worth a darn unless the foot continues to apply the gas.
I never forget that these are teens, or teens plus a year or two, and as such are works-in-progress as players, and as humans. That's kinda the whole purpose of college, isn't it?

As much as we all hate the'ucks and their reasons (or lack thereof) for bringing back baseball, and then watch as it's financials aren't even close to projections, it is weird to now think most uo students and many of their bandwagon fans don't even remember a time when uo didn't have baseball. They are likely oblivious to references to buying their way to Omaha.
Also, I am very confused by the P12 Network. I know there is a national channel and a regional channel. However, last weekend I couldn't find a baseball or softball game on either channel all weekend. Why? I get there was a Spring football game on live, but they didn't need to replay it four times. Wouldn't you want to braodcast your top two Spring sports live as much as possible all weekend? And what is the logic to having Utah/ASU softball game playing at the same time as uo/OSU baseball on a Monday night? Why wouldn't they stagger the times so both could be viewed by everyone? In about six weeks the P12 network becomes worthless because all live sporting events end for three months. You would think they would do their best to broadcast as many live games as possible while they can. Frankly, I just don't get the regional channel idea, seems like a waste of money as there is not enough programming, or the P12 network has decided not to invest in regional programming to save money.

It's simply bad baseball... I'm pretty sure PC and staff aren't not excusing away performances because they are teens making the most of their college experience. Whether it is a JBO, HS, or college team what we're seeing is simply underachieving for the level of play. This is not so much the other team out performing OSU, it is OSU handing opportunities/games to their opponents. Poor at bats, walks and unforced errors in this quantity are worrisome in that they are a product poor metal preparation/execution NOT physical attributes. We've had injuries to our pitching staff, but the rest are supposedly D1 pitchers. They should be able to throw multiple pitches with location in the strike zone. We are D1 fielders who should be able to make routine plays, throws, and communicate.
At this point in the season, for whatever reason or excuse someone wants to hand out, this team is NOT mentally focused and prepared to execute under game conditions. You really can't paint any other picture as the talent is there.

When we had the lead at 8-0 I saw something I rarely see at a Beaver game. Pat Casey was actually smiling in the dugout. It was brief, but I definitely saw it.

If you live in Seattle, the baseball civil war was not on. Reruns of UW and WSU softball, baseball, spring football and studio programs. Larry Scott, you suck and so do your "networks."

I was surprised PC didn't send the bus home and make the team walk home. That was a painful game to watch.
The surest way for an up and coming pitcher to get a permanent seat in the dugout is to walk batters. PC and NY have a sincere hatred of base on balls.
