The overall strength of Oregon State's 2021 recruiting class is starting to emerge as the baseball websites update their mid-summer rankings. With 14 commitments currently in the class, 8 of them are nationally ranked by at least one of the Baseball websites.
Two of these commits are also appearing on Top-100 prospect lists (High School and College) for the 2021 MLB Draft. The updates:
CF Tyree Reed is ranked #1 nationally by Prep Baseball Report, #4 by Baseball America (college and prep) and #11 by Perfect Game. SS Malakhi Knight is ranked #45 by Perfect game, #48 by Prep Baseball Report and #57 by Baseball America (college and prep). SS Jabin Trosky is ranked #88 by Perfect Game and #129 by Prep Baseball Report. RHP Jacob Kmatz is ranked #247 by Perfect Game and #257 by Prep Baseball Report RHP Victor Quinn is ranked #248 by Perfect Game and #429 by Prep Baseball Report C Tanner Smith is ranked #355 by Prep Baseball Report C Wilson Weber is ranked #397 by Prep Baseball Report. 2B Travis Bazzana is ranked the #1 Amateur 18u player in Australia
NOTES: Reed and Knight are rated exceptional athletes and prospects by professional scouts. Kmatz camps on 91-92 with a potent slider to compliment it, and has another season to increase that velo. Quinn hit 95 mph at the WWBA Championship tourney in Ft. Meyers, FL. Smith has been leaving the yard frequently in the last year - power projections.
