www.krqe.com/news/new-mexico/former-nm-sheriff-shares-warning-after-his-family-was-threatened/A former New Mexico sheriff says his family was threatened. Now, he has a not-so-nice message for those responsible, putting it on social media for all to see. Former Otero County Sheriff Benny House took to Facebook on Friday to say he’s been hearing things on the street: “IF ONE HAIR IS TOUCHED ON MY KID OR GRANDBABYS HEAD, YOU BETTER F****** MAKE SURE YOUR RIGHT WITH GOD, BECAUSE HE WILL BE THE FIRST YOU SEE RIGHT AFTER ME,” the post read. He goes on to say it’s “Not a threat, just the way it is.” People are commenting, most of them in support of House, saying, “I have a shovel. Just say when,” “Got your back Benny” and “Rules of a dad. Take care of business.”

I'm on Benny's side. Cop versus crook is business. Family is a different thing altogether.

Interesting.

Really classless - I mean it is very stupid to threaten an officer. Most real criminals would rather work in the shadows, so the last thing they want to do is bring down the law by making threats. I have a hard time dealing with people who live by making threats all the time.

Benny is probably fine. The date on this was April 2019. Still isn't right to threaten the family.

Shameful. If you have a beef with someone, go after him, not his wife or kids. Go Benny House!

The idiom "to go after someone" may include physical altercation but it certainly is not limited to that, and it does not exclude discussion--though it may be of a heated nature.

Weird how words can be interpreted differently in different situations, isn’t it?

Go after him? Not very peaceful and accepting. Maybe they should talk first? or maybe a beer summit? Now this is the right way to conviene a geopolitical discussion!
