Oregon State picked up a LHP prospect from Pasadena, CA. for the class of 2021. David Case is a 6' 170 pound junior at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, CA.
A quick scan shows him with 3 pitches and good control of the strike zone. His fastball sits on 85-87 and has touched 89 mph. His motion is a bit quirky and deceptive. I see a little Brandon Eisert in his motion.
This is not a highly visible recruit, more an under the radar kid that has something the Beaver coaches admire.

A few additional notes on David Case. Video clips of him show some run on the fastball that repeats in the 85-87 mph range. He shows a good slider with a two-plane break in the 1-7 pattern from a 3/4 release. His delivery shows good balance and some athleticism. Has a loose motion, a few moving parts. Has a good curveball that he uses sparingly at a lazy 66-67 mph pace. Uses a change up at 74-75 to keep hitters off balance.
David has a very deceptive motion - he hides the ball then delivers with a quick and loose arm action. Hitters can't frame his release point or pick up spin early in the pitch. He appears to throw across his body in a natural cross-fire delivery, but Brandon Eisert had a similar motion and managed to pitch a healthy amount of innings at OSU.
David plays in a good prep program at L.A.-Loyola and during the summer, he pays on some potent travel teams with GBG Marucci and the Garciaparra Baseball Academy.
