Hmmm....interesting
70% chance of showers Tuesday. So preemptive rainout? Saving arms for the weekend? Or like the hitters that get the "flu" on the day that Randy Johnson is on the hill?

We've had rainouts in the past with Portland, but that's been because their field can't handle much rain. I wonder why they called this one. Maybe because the series with Wazzu starts Thursday, and they want to rest their arms?

I saw this in yesterday's GT. Several reasons are cited of which any of them seem reasonable...
Both teams were happy to see the game preemptively rained out. OSU has an 8 a.m. flight Wednesday morning out of Portland and the Pilots, who play Oregon at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Hillsboro, just returned home from a three-game series at Gonzaga.
Casey said the game should’ve been moved ahead of time, but a coaching change at Portland complicated the matter. Chancing any rain delays with a busy travel schedule for both teams didn’t seem worth it.
“We had this game (with Portland) scheduled, the Pac-12 then came out and moved our game (with WSU) from Friday to Thursday and both of us at that time thought ‘let’s move the game,’ and it never got moved,” Casey said. “Once they said there was a chance of showers between 5 and 8 o’clock, we’re leaving at 8 o’clock in the morning and they’re playing at Oregon tomorrow, it didn’t seem like it was a wise thing to do for student athletes (to play).”
