It’ll be interesting to see how those guys have done the next 15 years when OSU is actually looking for a new coach.

That would be about the time that a renovated Gill has been renamed Tinkle Coliseum or the house that Wayne built.

Every person on that list had a better resume then Wayne had before the age of 40.

In pretty much any program - the head coach and/or the assistants need to be top notch recruiters. It appears after six years we have neither. So if one of those guys can sell some players will buy. Being a good coach starts with having sufficient talent on the team. If you can't recruit you are already behind before the tipoff even happens.

Every person on that list had a better resume then Wayne had before the age of 40. So what? Wayne's resume, when we hired him, was better than almost every coach on that list, were any of those coaches to be hired today, which you want.

I will re-work the old joke:
Two schools had a boat race. Both teams practiced hard and long to reach their peak performance levels. On the big day both felt ready. One team won by a mile. The losing team was discouraged by the loss. Morale sagged. The athletic director decided that the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found, so a consulting firm was hired to investigate the problem and recommend corrective action.
The consultant's finding: the winning team had eight people rowing and one person steering; the losing team had one person rowing and eight people steering.
After a year of study and millions spent analyzing the problem, the consultant firm concluded that too many people were steering and not enough were rowing on the American team.
So as race day neared again the following year, the losing team was completely reorganized.
The new structure: four steering managers, three area steering managers, and a new performance review system for the person rowing the boat to provide a work incentive.
The next year, the winning team won by TWO miles!!! Humiliated, the losing team laid off the rower for poor performance and gave the athletic director a bonus for discovering the problem.
Take any one of the 40 on that list and put them on Corvallis, and they will do about what Tinkle is doing. There are larger institutional problems at Oregon State beyond coaching. But, by all means, lets all get excited about the potential for a new rower.

If you take that to its logical concussion the most important criteria when hiring a coach is the salary. Get somebody for as cheap as possible since no one can win at OSU, what is the point of wasting money on a coaches salary.
