Wayne SERIOUSLY must up his recruiting game, but he’s trying his best to run a clean program and let’s not forget that USC and Arizona had assistant coaches convicted of felonies related to recruiting and have seen ZERO penalties... deck is stacked against anyone not playing the “pay to play AAU” game. Either the NCAA / PAC-12 brings the hammer, or (far more likely) the message is clear: if you ain’t cheatin’ you ain’t tryin’. If that’s the playing field, we will need to get rid of Wayne and bring n Zombie Jerry Tarkanian.

Try to poach that slime ball Altman.....he’s got cheating down to a science. Wayne would do a better job if he had access to the kind of money the cheaters get, right now he’s carrying a knife into a recruiting gunfight.
How about the members at Benny’s House contributing to a recruiting slush fund.....problem solved.

If in order to win consistently in the Pac-12 at Football and MBB you have to cheat and we are not interested in cheating what is the point of being in the conference? Maybe just to exist and enjoy the other non revenue sports we are good at...

Lets be honest. We are going to suck this next year. And because WT has multiple years on his contract we are going to suck the following year too. With at most Ethan coming back WT still couldn't recruit. Quit blaming the three sons as the problem. The real problem WT can't recruit. Don’t sugar coat it-give it to us straight!

The one thing I find encouraging is that at least thus far none of last year’s freshmen class has transferred. It wasn’t a great class, but it did have some talent in it. If it can remain intact and be the nucleus for the future, that could be a good thing. Certainly need to bring in better talent around them, but if that can happen then could be a pathway to some success. I just have my doubts whether WT can bring in that “better talent.” This year’s class looks OK at best. 2021 class has to be better and not all JCs. Guess we’ll see.

I believe that's where Danny Noonan went to law school.

Good for him, seems like a great landing spot with his brother being there as a coach.

well no one can accuse any of our transfers of using OSU as a stepping stone to a bigger & better program! That's all I got.

Another example of a WT recruit who wasn't able to play at the Power 5 level.

If you are complaining about WT not recruiting better because he's not cheating ... then you are the problem (you being the well-healed and/or connected). The head coaches (and largely not even assistants) don't run these payments, because they need plausible deniability. The NCAA is a weak entity when it comes to enforcement, so you have to be stupid to get punished ... UA and USC have been pretty stupid, but not stupid enough. Do you think coach K had any direct connection to Zion getting paid? www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/05/11/lawsuit-asks-zion-williamson-admit-family-was-paid-steer-him-duke/ Of course not - that's all done behind the scenes, it's all above board with anything that connects him or the program. Nothing will come of it, and yet it's so transparent how things actually work. Big-time college athletes don't give a rip about the rules that frankly are a joke anyway. They know they are bringing huge revenues to whatever university they choose, and they are going to get paid now, and not just by free tuition. OSU's best recruits under WT were paid ... paid by their dad's salaries and bonuses, which the AD can directly slush without any NCAA violation. That well has now run dry, our recruiting level appears to reflect our grease-palming budget. So ... which one of you is now going personally set up the slush fund and shadow logistics to negotiate payments to the families of top-tier recruits? Until that happens, expect that our only hope of making the tournament is with players that we luck into developing that don't have the leverage to get paid in the recruiting process.

Another example of a WT recruit who wasn't able to play at the Power 5 level. Antoine Vernon was supposed to be the third-best player in Canada coming out of high school. First and second were Ignas Brazdeikis (pick #47 last year) and Luguentz Dort. He is now going back to Canada. It could be that he is just homesick. Good luck to him.

I believe Vernon's other scholarship offer was from Northern Arizona. Brazdeikis had about 20-25 D1 offers. So it would seem a pretty big gap - roughly the size of Saskatchewan - between Canada's #2 and #3. Edit: got Brazdeikis and Dort mixed up, but the gap is the same. Dort had offers from plenty of schools as well - Louisville, Florida, Indiana, Michigan St and others.
