94,000 deaths in a country of 330 million. That means you have a 99.97% chance of NOT dying from COVID-19. I like those odds. Of course, this assumes about 8 more weeks of social distancing.

Hmm. Big adjustment in projected mortality numbers in the last couple days. From appx 60,000 to now 134,000. That's not moving in the right direction, folks. covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-americaGiven how volatile these projections have been lately, I'm taking them with the proverbial glass of Lysol.

If you read their methodology section, you’ll see that they changed a whole bunch in their modeling. The most obvious to me was changing to more of a rolling average on deaths instead of the daily figures they had been using. Since this is a new model, it’s possible they could be being a bit more conservative (erring on the side of caution) in their figures. Regardless, Oregon’s numbers still look good!

I hope I get one of bi-Kate's 100,000 letters asking for volunteers for testing, etc. To be mailed May 11 so I will probably get it 13 or 14. Will jump at it. I like my odds. I am in the vulnerable age group.

Make fun of the governor all you want but the bottom line (death count) shows the Oregon state government she leads has done an excellent job of responding to this pandemic, especially considering that 3/4 of our state's population is congested into a very small part of our state's geographic footprint.

Yeah, totally great handling. Those ingrates! Aren't most of the counties on Phase 2 (wasn't there a porn shop on 9th street called Phase III or something?) Multnomah county isn't even at Phase I is it? Seems like a logical, science based set of standards to reopen slowly and carefully. Meet the standard & reopen a bit more. IIRC Bend opened bars last week. I don't know about restaraunts.

How is he making fun of the governor? I'm sure he meant to compliment her by calling her "bi-Kate," right? Seems like a logical, science based set of standards to reopen slowly and carefully. Meet the standard & reopen a bit more.Don't mention science. It confuses some people.

Trump today announced that scientists had invented an AIDS vaccine so hopefully a COVID vaccine should follow very quickly.

Eastern Oregon should have never been locked-down in any way, manner, or fashion, to begin with. Period. Because Union county didn’t just come down with 119 cases in a single day? Pole vaulting ahead of Marion county. That’s quite a feat.
