There other significant side issues to Covid-19. Thursday afternoon, mrs sage with her many physical problems from her spinal injury fell in the shower. Had to call the paramedics. BTW, I cannot say enough positive about those guys. They are the BEST. She had to be transported. As I am getting my stuff together, one guy takes me aside and tells me to stay home because I will not be allowed to be with her. So, I tell mrs sage I can't come and it devastated her. Said paramedics calmly stepped aside and allowed me time to talk with her, reassure her, and kiss her goodbye. Yesterday, she had surgery to put in a rod and screws to repair her fractured femur. I could not even go to pre-op to wish her well. I have not seen her since Thursday afternoon.
Except for her excellent caregivers, mrs sage is alone. Injured, pain, scared, and ALONE. She has not seen anyone but medical staff since Thursday afternoon. Can you imagine what that can be like. Definitely adversely affects the mental attitude which is a huge part of recovery. I just talked wither her and I can tell being alone is affecting her emotional state. I am in no way criticizing St. Charles hospital for their exclusion policy. They are doing absolutely what they have to do to protect their patients, their staff, and everyone in the community. The nurses and doctors always make sure they take the time to talk with me over the phone.
This virus is hurting many, many people more than jobs, conveniences etc.

All the best to both of you, it's not just her that's hurting right now. Hoping for a speedy recovery, and her coming home soon.
*on a side note... hope those guys weren't called at 9:05pm or after!

Nah, mrs sage was the naked one. Now you want to talk about the lack of social distancing, imagine mrs sage, me, and five paramedics in a small bathroom and about a third of out master bedroom. More body contact than the Beavs played on defense this year.

More body contact than the Beavs played on defense this year. Maybe the image and memory of that will give you both laughs for years to come. While she's alone in hospital, read to her, books, magazines, short stories, poems. She'll hear your voice without needing to keep the conversation going. Drop off ear buds so she won't have to hold the phone. Best to both Sages. You are wise ones!

Sorry for your situation, Sage. The visitation situation is tough, but the timing would otherwise be good. ER visits are way down and elective surgeries aren't happening so the specialist doctor, nurses and techs aren't overly busy. Actually a tough time for the hospital bottom line even with the 5 virus patients.

Just talked to her. She is not doing well. Pain. Alone. They are talking about moving her to a rehab facility but no one has talked to me or her with any specifics. She can put no weight on her leg, but they did move her to a chair at least. I am worried about a UTI with her catheter. A UTI can make you go nuts. Literally. Probably go out tomorrow to go to the store. Food and left overs are running a little low. Milk don't smell too good😁. Only two Beak Breakers left.
Thank you so much for asking. It means a lot to me. 👍

So sorry to hear that Mrs. Sage is not doing well and in pain. Sounds better that she is able to sit in a chair, though. Sometimes just being upright gives you a better feeling about life in general. Maybe ask the nursing staff about monitoring for a UTI if she has been prone to them in the past?
ornggnawer is right about asking your nice neighbor to help. If you get sick and are shedding virus before you realize it, you could infect Mrs. Sage when she is in rehab. You have to be her rock even more now.

mrs sage is in trouble. She is going into another procedure as we speak, Because of discoloration in her foot and leg, they have to go in and try to fix blood flow. Up one leg into the other, If this does not work, the next option is amputation. Thank you all for your support. Beaver Nation is more than a community, it is a neighborhood. You people do not know how much your thoughts mean to us. THANK YOU.
