We let the tri-fecta get away from us......getting no runs out of a 4 walk 1st inning was a big favor to UW. But I do like this team bouncing back to take the series from a good UW team after dealing with loosing Drew. Heimlich provided some quality pitching in his first Pac-12 start....so that is a big plus.....we will need all we can get from him from here on out.

I'm not sure what I saw, but it was definitely directed at Beaver fans. All I know is a fan up high behind home was yelling back at the Husky player who did it. I'm beginning to understand why hole fans hate them. I hope their bus got a flat tire on the way to the airport. Scum Buckets!

I'm sure we all have a tough time looking in the mirror, but those of us that understand "the arrogance" of winning" will get this. Taunts and insults from fans of inferior programs mean little. We are deemed by many as the BEST and WORST baseball fans (it was even mentioned by the TV beroadcast crew) in the Pac12. We really come out and support our team, BUT we are very vocal (many times inappropriately like diamond dwellers can get... lots of down time to come up with those insults/wise cracks!) to opposing teams and players. Other teams HATE us because it comes from a fan base that has won... not just in a tough league, but on the national level. We're despised not only because we're good, but because we have not cheated to do it.
A pretty good quote last night concerning the bottom of the 9th, "... hardest 3 outs to get... typically have to get 4 strikes and 4 outs to get through it... Beavers fans think at home they only needs 2 strikes and 2 outs..." Thought it was pretty funny. And, if you've attended enough home games it rings very true! LOL
I hate uck and husky fans... because of their arrogance and ignorance of not knowing every shred of success has come via cheating and for the most part only getting their hand slapped. I rarely hate their players other than they represent that team.

They, like our southern neighbors, have attempted to replicate our success by sinking a lot of money into their stadiums. Oddly, both have the same problem - the big new stadiums draw the same small crowds. It's pretty sad catching one of their games on TV and seeing the 200 people huddled together behind home plate.

The insults they hurled at Andrew Moore last year when he pitched at PK were beyond the pale. It pissed off his mom, and it pissed me off too. Nothing like a bunch of drunk idiots running their mouth. Yes, there are a few at Goss who heckle every player. The other night there were some guys in the outfield SRO area that were working on Meggs, the center fielder for UW. He stupidly responded to them, and the game was on. It's uncalled for and boorish. I am not above calling out any player, for great plays and for ones that they screw up too. But to constantly razz the other team, well it's flat out wrong.

LOL That was Donnie Marbut as the color guy that said that. As we watched that we noted it. We took it a bit as red *ss or sour grapes. He was former Cougar coach that was relieved last year. Apparently he was not happy with the support of the Admin on facilities.
Marbut was very complimentary of the Beavers on the weekend. And there is probably a bit of truth in his remarks on 2 strikes & 2 outs. I think that is endemic of all baseball fan bases though

You have to take the context of "worst" less as what is said, but as fans of winners who are little bit arrogant and think every call should go their way. True if a lot of fan bases, but "we're" a lot more vocal as we have 10 times the fans at games AND have won. It comes with territory of winning... tOSU in ftbll recently have a terrible rep... Duke in hoops... etc.

I have a cousin that pitched for an OSU opponent in the conference, and he said he heard the worst of his career in Corvallis - from a little old lady no less. He didn't tell me what was said, other than that it was well beyond the pale.

I also tell you an easy comparison to the total love/buy in toward a team sometimes = bad fans... same town, same venue... different buy in to the team... compare the atmosphere at a Pac12 game at Goss to a Knights game.
Night and day in the vitriol tossed out and seems to be a lot more drunks in the summer, so it's not just the alcohol factor.

I've never understood the folks that scream nonsense at opposing players from the grandstands, just for the fact of their wearing a different uniform. If they're doing something objectionable, sure let em have it - within the bounds of decency. But if they're just competing for their team and trying to win, why is that a problem? It is exactly what our team is doing.

Guess the Beav's fans got under their skin a bit. I'm sure it's very frustrating to learn that, once again, you don't measure up and the crowd is letting you know it. But at least they got to "shush" the crowd there at the end. That and a tube of Desitin and their season is right back on track.
