WT needs to look in the mirror. HE is the problem. This isn't the end of the first year. It's the end of the sixth year with all his recruits. Since it was stansbury that gave WT the extension use StAnsbury's payback as a down payment to make WT go away.

What’s hilarious too is that when our former football coach did the same thing (putting it on the players), many on here backed his statements, saying “we will remember the 53 that did come to the Civil War” and that Riley recruits weren’t pulling their weight.
I venture to guess if Wayne was fired and the new guy came in and said “these guys are soft” many would get on board with him and say “you know what? They ARE soft!” Mick Cronin made almost these exact same statements earlier in the season when UCLA was struggling.
I’m not a fan of coaches laying players out in the media, but it’s a thing that happens, probably sometimes as a motivational tool. We’ll see if it works

For those of you who blame the coaches.... perhaps they recruited "great kids". Should they have focused on getting a few "jerks" (I figured that's an mild enough term)?
It's a tough call when you are trying to build a program that reflects well on the university.
It might be that a few questionable kids can change the win column (look 40 miles or so south).

It's not a tough call at all. There is no need to toss players under the bus. If that's what you think of them... great. Betting not all the players think of themselves that way! And, there are plenty of quality kids who are also talented basketball players. OSU may even have some if developed. To the GAG comment... I didn't support him, but his initial comments were about physical development in the weight room. Never stooped taking about being emotionally weak at that point. By the time he went there he had lost most every poster here. |

The "explaining" vs blaming. Actually stating some are indeed getting it, others needing more time. Game 1, Season 1... explaining the staff's expectation. Game 29, Season 6 stating the team is weak both mentally and physically. Really? That's the same? And... after 6 seasons who's responsibility is it that players are prepped mentally and physically? After 6 recruiting evaluations who's job is it to find those players. Motivation? Or as GAG practiced, excuse to shed the blame and then get some new staff? |

Hmmmm Mick Cronin... let's see Yet, let's clear up the similarities... he's a 1st year guy at UCLA with really none of his own players. Again do you get the idea of what remotely similar situations are? Or, realize with that roster and comment on Jan 15, UCLA has went 11-2, are now 12-5 and in 1st place. Or how about maybe he's just a MUCH better coach... 10 straight post seasons, last 9 are NCAA tourneys... this year will make 11th consecutive year in the postseason. Bobby Knight next?
