SR’s move to force players other than the big three (Mik, Destiny and Taylor) to contribute to the offense paid off. I hope he continues to do something like this even though it is not guaranteed to work every time. It seemed to energize the whole team. It was good to see Maddie and Aleah regain their confidence. This was a brilliant move by the coaching staff. OSU non-starters have to contribute on offense because Pivec/Slocum/Jones on the bench--LOVED IT! FINALLY: Maddie Washington made Cal pay for leaving Maddie open, so Cal could double another OSU player. I too, hope Rueck does the very same move against the Washington schools. We need other players to step up and contribute, and not depend on Slocum/Pivec/Jones as our only dependable scorers.

A very risky move that could have backfired and resulted in a loss. That really would have been demoralizing to the squad if it resulted in a loss. Thankfully, the five that started the second half were +4 in point differential during that 5-minute period. Maddie came up big during that period. She needs to shoot from 15' in if the defense is backing off her.

Yes...for some reason I thought we were 20-9...I stand corrected...we are 20-8.

Saw a replay of yesterday's game on DVR. A lot of good takeaways for the Beavs, regardless of the quality of the opponent.
1) Maddie can hit from 15' and needs to look for her shot.
2) Two three-pointers made by Goodman show that her shot hasn't left her. She simply did get many shots the prior two games.
3) Improved perimeter passing and ball movement led to a number of open shots and more separation from defenders.
4) Fewer turnovers (10) made for more shots.
5) Free throws were 11/13 after the team went 12/12 against Stanford.
A step in the right direction on offense, especially in the third quarter.

1) Maddie can hit from 15' and needs to actively look for her shot to keep the opposing defenses honest.

For the life of me I don't understand why Morris doesn't get at least a few minutes a game.

For the life of me I don't understand why Morris doesn't get at least a few minutes a game. Morris had her layup attempt off a very good pass blocked by Cal's 6'1" Brown in the first half yesterday. Brown is a good athlete, but Morris needs to convert those chippies over shorter players. A similar thing happened against Stanford in Gill when an OSU guard took the defense away and gave Morris a 4-footer that she couldn't finish. I was impressed with the Jack Sikma-like face-up jumper that Morris hit to start the third quarter yesterday. She needs to show more in the limited minutes that she has earned in order to remain on the court for extended periods. Would love to see her aggression and physicality increase and allow her to be a difference maker with her length.

Trisha when she first came in altered several of Cal shots.she changes things if she is in. If it was me I'd personally play Trisha with Taylor.Taylor will get less fouls that way. One mans opinion

One mans opinion I would like to see 6'7" and 6'4" on the floor together more as well. The question is whether Jones knows the plays from the 4 position because I would venture to guess that Morris has taken her reps from the 5 position all season. Both Jones and Morris are bright students, so perhaps they could be quick learners if the selection of options was limited a bit.
