The kid, PP, is a stud. PERIOD. If on OSU we're a team dancing and ucks aren't. Every good/great team needs arrogant, talented POS type. It's why OSU hasn't been good since GP and GPII (he not so much as dad). If WT could recruit a player(s) like PP there would be a lot less posts on this board. I recall watching Beaver games as a freshman when GeePee was a senior.....it was sort of cringe-worthy...I remember loving that he was on our team, but thinking how much opponents must hate him. He talked more trash than any player I've ever seen in the conference.... maybe there have been some more guys like that or worse, but he was pretty nasty out on the court. Now is there something about PP that I'm not aware of? I mean yeah, he LOOKS douchey, but I can't go just based on that. I saw him taunt the UW students earlier this year, but that's about all I've seen or heard. I agree with earlier posters though that the kid is nails in leading his team come tourney time and big games especially. I wish a certain senior on our team had that knack when games were on the line. Well... much easier to do as you say as the PG. Not to give TT an excuse, but the kid that should be "that" guy is ET. He has the handle, hops, length, and shooting versatility to be almost as effective. BUT... not the mental game. Some have that, some don't... and I'm of the belief that you can't coach that "into" a player. But, you can, coach it "out" of a player but hamstringing his development and confidence. I'm not sure we have that type on the roster. But, when watching Hunt I've seen signs he wants to be the guy... just needs the reins loosened. It is a process... you need to let them play, live with and let them learn from their mistakes. It has taken PP 130+ games (99 or so W's) to get to where he is. WT will never know what he has with how he limits development with NC playing time. It's 20/20 hindsight now, but this team would be no worse for wear (I'm saying better with no way to prove it) if Hunt had been given the reins and ET moved to the 2 from the start. He an Vernon sharing that role, getting Lucas about 50 more FGA earlier in the year, SMM some run at the 3 with TT at the 4 would have made us deeper, far more experienced, and more versatile. All I can say with some confidence (again unprovable) is that this team should be far far better than it has played, but to my consternation WT met my expectations of what would happen.

I didn't expect Hunt to step in immediately and be a vocal leader on the floor, but I do agree that I see some qualities in him already that lead me to believe he could be down the road. Has to be tough to lead a pretty old team as a freshman with two coaches kids on the team. I think he will step into that role nicely with TT gone next year. Agree with you on development of the roster and depth as well. I still can't wrap my head around the 4-0 record against the top 4 teams we've played and the 0-7 against the rest in conference play. Just win 2 of the 7 against UW, UCLA, WSU, Utah, ASU, UCLA, and Cal and this team is probably in NCAA discussion still.

Also, hating on Pritchard makes no sense to me, much like hating on Herbert. Incredibly talented in state kids who stayed home, even if it was for the other guys. Plenty of things to hate about UO, he’s not one of them. Do any of you know him,or just hate him because he is a duck? Some of you may and have a legit reason...I don't know. Great player, but personally,I don't like him,and it's not based on him being a uo player. We would all love him in a beaver uni...These kids are human...

My point is,there may be a legit reason why fans don't like Pritchard and it isn't based on him wearing a duck uni...that is all I am saying. I've tried to separate the guys who play in beaver uniforms from the them off the court...There are guys who I have rooted for as a beaver fan when I don't particularly like them as people. I don't care for Pritchard, and it has nothing to do with what team is on the front of his jersey...

I'm a younger alum and was still a student when PP was an underclassman. I do not know him personally but know a few people that went to school with him and know him well. That's where a lot of my angst towards him stems from outside of the uniform he wears or his play on the court. Without going in to too much detail I hope that answers your question.

No way does 16 and 14 get the Beavers in the NCAA, or the NIT, or in the discussion unless our coach was a popular President's brother. Losing just 2 of the next 7 gets them in the discussion but they still probably would need to win a game or two in the conference playoff to make it to the NCAA tourney. I'm hoping for 4 wins and 2+ wins and a solid showing in their final game in the conference playoffs to lock in a trip somewhere. Last year's team won 18, finished tied for 4th in the league and really deserved a NIT invite, but due to a bunch of auto-qualifiers into the NIT didn't get a shot. We've beaten some good teams this year, but I kinda doubt those wins will overshadow the losses to the lesser ranked teams.
