Great thread. Lucas is out of his depth, Lucas can shoot but he needs to stop driving, Lucas needs to get more minutes! Offense sucks with Tinkle out there, offense sucks with Tinkle on the bench, get him back out there! Stanford was 19th in the NET? 16th. Up from 17th. NET is probably going to be pretty fluid through next weekend. After that, it should stabilize some.

A win in Berkeley could go a long way as that's followed up with a home game against a struggling Utes team.

Someone remind me not to fall for the whole "win a game out of nowhere that 99% of people agreed we had no business winning coming in to the game" trap again. Seems like when I don't care they win. So naturally I'm going to not care when I watch us beat Cal Saturday, then be moderately invested in the civil war, and when we win by 20 at home (cause WT teams seem to do that against the ucks in Gill, credit where it's due) I'll be all in again just for a complete dud against the mountain schools.
I'll be coming back to this in 2-3 weeks time to say how right I was.
P.S. I don't know how anyone outside of the NET computer thinks Stanford is a top 20 team.

The Pac12 must be awesome and getting like 10 teams in with last place UW a top 50 NET team!

Last night summarizes being a Beaver fan for the last 30 years. Just when you are ready to give up on them, they beat somebody they shouldn't and give you a sliver of hope.

It shouldn't read "Beavers won", it should read "Stanford Lost"
Matchup Beavs Cards
FG 23-52 25-59
Field Goal % 44.2 42.4
3PT 4-20 6-18
Three Point % 20.0 33.3
FT 18-22 7-12
Free Throw % 81.8 58.3
Largest Lead 13 3
look at those stats....both teams shot terrible. Difference being OSU made their freethrows. Are we happy they won? sure, we are... seriously. It's not like our offensive numbers are high or that we are producing well though. So here's to cautious optimism.
Mind you USC shot 64% to the Beavers 37% Beavs are in an offensive slump

And, I'll take the 82% from the line any day. And, what are you a Stanford fan that sounds like an uck fan when they lose? The Beavs won no matter how you want to describe it.

Oh, I almost forgot. I'm taking some of the credit for OSU's win last night. I placed two five-dollar bets on Stanford. One moneyline and one first half Stan -3.5. Without those, I'm not sure we win.

Nice job. Looks like we share the same superpower. FWIW, I’m taking the Chiefs and the over tomorrow. You’re welcome.

The win moved us up from 91 to 77 in the Net Rankings.

The Illini shot 33.3% overall, 20% from 3 and 87.5% from the line in a 59-51 victory. Minnesota shot even worse in all three areas -- January B1G basketball at its finest. One of the 3 players representing Illinois at the post-game press conference didn't score in 23 minutes. In fact, he didn't score in the month of January (8 games) -- and he starts.

I'm guessing one coach is a lot less happy about the calls this morning.

I'm guessing one coach is a lot less happy about the calls this morning. There was 18 fouls on OSU and 19 on Stanford. Their fouls were on shooters, ours were reaching and offensive fouls. Tell them to stop fouling shooters, especially 3 pt shooters and their wouldn't be such a FT shooting disparity. Stanford coach has no reason to be unhappy about the calls.

My extremely uninformed observations of the game last night. Please criticize with caution as I freely admit I don't know squat:
1. We looked SO much better on offense with Thompson out of the game. Vernon actually played a decent point guard role and between him and Lucas they probed the defense which made them move which got guys open. Thompson comes back in for the second half and that came to an end. 2. Kelly ended up having a monster game but against smaller competition than the guys who have been kicking his ass the past few games. Plus he didn't try to dribble in the key too much and get it slapped away before he could shoot. 3. WTF has Lucas not played more before now? Great hustle, effort and he was hot. Obviously came back to earth in the second half but still looked decent. 4. I'm completely done with Hollins. He makes too many stupid mistakes and is simply not reliable. Vernon, Lucas, Hunt, maybe even Miller-Moore would be on my substitution list before Hollins. 5. Thompson made up for his offense stifling lack of point guard skills by making some pretty good plays in the second half. I still think we look better without him at the point. Surely there must be SOMEONE we could use at point and let Ethan play off guard.
I managed to make it through the game with a modicum of profanity and only two martini's. Had there been a late game collapse I would have been glad I hit the liquor store the day before in preparation for watching the game.
Does this mean we've turned a corner? I doubt it but will try to remain optimistic.
