Presumably, that means a national TV audience for a very loud, very packed house tomorrow. So they'll get to see what it's like to play at Gill for the Beavers in Kansas (Payton Verhulst), Arkansas (Jersey Wolfenbarger), Illinois (Greta Kampschroeder), and Washington (Talia Von Delhoffen).
Hopefully, the announcers will be talking up the atmosphere like they did last year, the game will live up to hopes and expectations, and Kennedy and Taylor (who, along with Sasha, will be the mainstays of our team in 2 years) will acquit themselves well. None of the above mentioned recruits are bigs, so they can envision themselves playing with those 2 for 2 years, not competing with them for minutes.
This could definitely help the recruiting cause.

One thing that would be absolutely grand is for the commentators to comment equally for each team. Lopsided chatter drives me nuts. Go Beavs.

They won't. ALL commentators these days choose the topics they will talk about ahead of the game, and then, no matter what's actually happening in the game, that's their focus. It may or may not be relevant to the events at hand, but, by God, that's what you're going to hear.
Today's topic will be Sabrina. If they've decided to zero in on assists, you're going to hear about her perfect delivery and timing on fairly routine passes. If they've opted for her heart of a champion, you'll hear how she just never quits, no matter the score. If it's her clutch performer persona, you'll see replays of her buzzer beaters on Friday at least twice.
We will be the secondary topic. No doubt they'll opt for talk of the job Scott has done; that's a tried and true routine, used every single time we're on national TV. And they'll talk about the crowd at Gill. Somewhere along the line, they'll throw in a mention or two of Mik and Destiny. The rest of our team will only bear mentioning if Sabrina scores over them or something.
Me, I'm going to the game, so won't get to hear all of it. Darn!

hey bvrbooster - -I enjoyed your take on TV commentators pre-game prep, especially how they stick to the script researched and rehearsed long before game time..... For those of us who watch every game and know every detail about each team it does get tedious and tiresome..... For 80% of the National audience, however, it's first time stuff, so the menu pretty much has to be basic info enriched with selected highlight topics....
The good news is that Corvallis and Gill usually get portrayed in a positive light, and it is National, prime time free promo for OSU WBB....... GO BEAVS !!

While it’s fitting that some mention is made of Mr Bryant’s tragic death today on the game broadcast, I hope they don’t overdo it and detract from the coverage of this game.
RIP Kobe Bryant. 1978-2020.

RIP Kobe Bryant. 1978-2020. They possibly won't even air the game. ESPN 2 now pre-empting X Games for Kobe coverage. Note on screen sez, go to ESPN News or App for X-games.
