Nut said GA needed to get 6 years to have a 6 win season before GA's final season ended abruptly. I won't take any sports advice from him.

I wouldn’t say right now. At least get some idea of where you could go next. I am not sure that we have that figured out. As a coach, I really like Tinkle- however, he just does not seem to know how to actually ‘coach’. I scratch my head on his substitutions and his time outs. There seems to be very few defensive adjustments on the ball - except Tres getting in a passing lane every once in awhile. I wish Tink was a much better X’s and O’s Guy - BUT !

I do wonder about his recruiting. How much of it is him, how much is his staff, how much of it is an OSU problem? I blame OSU's now three decade history, but the recruiting needs work. The team currently has 2 kids that were top 100 in their class (Tinkle and Thompson) and 1 (Hollins) that was top 200 coming out of high school, the rest are like the high 200s through not ranked at all. I've seen people griping about losing to a weak UCLA team on various message boards, but heck, UCLA played 7 kids last night that were top 100 recruits coming out of high school. Says to me that maybe coaching is not quite the biggest part of the loss on that game at least.

But this isn’t the OFFICIAL Game Thread so it doesn’t count. How about now? Close. Check the Ucla thread.

Nut said GA needed to get 6 years to have a 6 win season before GA's final season ended abruptly. I won't take any sports advice from him. This comment is hilarious coming from you of all people. You hyperventilate on this board every day trying to defend Tinkle, and said the other day nothing short of a 1-17 season or consistently finishing in the bottom 2 or 3 in the league will change your mind on Tinkle. Sounds like you and Nut both lack credibility on these sorts of matters. To be fair I said a multi-year downward trend or a single horrific year or consistently finish in the bottom two or three would trigger me. IF you'd actually look at his frickin record he's been on an upswing in both season totals and in-league record... both of which top most anything we've had since 1989-90 season. This season hasn't even played out yet. If he doesn't match last year's record the clock starts ticking on the milti-year downward trend. Heck, if he loses out this year (I think the chances are near zero) I'd be reccomending it's time to make a change. There's still a lot of season left, I'm willing to let it play out. There's no reason whatsoever to call for his firing at 12 and 6 with another bunch of games left. I think I've been fairly consistent. If he/the team performs down to to the level of what we've seen the previous 24 year it's time to make a change. Changing coaches on an upswing I think is foolish.

Looking at wts stats is reasonable in gauging hire/fire, but for me it is a more subjective measure that counts. His teams consistently do not play up to their potential. They are inconsistent, seem confused, and have never been able to establish an on-floor leader. The only argument that makes sense against that is years 1&2. I think he may be a good coach, but has not handled the ‘sons’ situation well & it has also affected recruiting. He’s in a tough spot now where he needs time to prove himself, with a clientele that has ran out of patience.

Another lineup change, Roman Silva starting instead of SMM.

Another lineup change, Roman Silva starting instead of SMM. Makes sense against USC who has 2 solid big men. Going to make subbing a little tough though. Dastrup is going to have to give some minutes with that starting lineup

Best crowd all year so far. With the exception of the students. Lower section isn't even full.

The difference in athleticism between the 2 teams is stunning.
