Not to be a negative Nelly but does anyone really expect us to go up there and beat the Dawgs in Seattle? I'm expecting another split next week.....not end of world. But yeah a sweep would be nice. But I'm going to full expect a let down loss on Thursday. I refuse to assume we've turned corners, haha...

Hard to say.. but I would expect UW to come out angry after being swept on the road.. they are only 1-3 so far in conference and really need a win.

They just lost their starting PG who was a transfer from Kentucky that was averaging ~12 pts and 5 assists/game to academics before this weekend ( article on it) It will still be a very tough game, but it's a pretty good opportunity to get that one.

It was very interesting to hear and read the Wildcats' take on this game. They identified Oregon State as the best offensive team that the Wildcats would face in the Pac-12 outside of the Ducks. They also mentioned that Kylor Kelly was the best shot blocker in the country. The only chink in the armor that they identified was perimeter defense. They mentioned that Arizona State was able to take advantage of it and expected Arizona to, as well. They also identified the Oregon State game a must-win, because of the way that the Wildcats lost the game in Eugene. If Oregon State can beat the most talented team in the conference in must-win mode by 17, the Beavers are certainly more than able to beat a demoralized Husky team. We'll see.........

Today was the best all around defensive effort I recall seeing them play since Tinkle's first 2 seasons. Keep it up and they'll win a lot of games.

So, on my way home from Gill.....where’s the fire Tinkle thread, did I miss it? Has there ever been one? As the supporters love to make fun of detractors after Ws, I'd say it's equal 20/20 hindsight! But,this win is an example of one of my chief complaints... inconsistency. How does the extremes of ASU and Zona happen... on a regular basis? The downside is that a 17 pt win over Zona was the first over a ranked team in 4 years. (?USC in 2015-16?) It took a run of 16/22 (17/26 overall) from the field the last 12 min and 20/22 from the line for the game. Prob not happening again soon. The GREAT news is it builds confidence in how this team can play. Not that tonight is the new standard in shot making, but it should be in effort and focus. Unfortunately it came at the expense of a radically shortened bench. So, for now we're not that deep. So, for this detractor can any kind of momentum be carried to the state of Washington? Both those teams are at the bottom of the Pac12... swept by Bay area schools, split with LA schools. I'd expect a sweep even as roadies. Supporters what say you?

I would say any who do we get as our next coach thread is a fire the existing coach thread. As far as predicting future games, right now it wouldn’t shock me if we split every remaining weekend, and it wouldn’t shock me if we won all but two or three of our remaining games. This team is good enough to beat anyone in the league but they’re not good enough to win every game. I think there may be a bunch of teams in the league like that this year.

I think the UW game will be a dogfight (pun intended) as they have to be upset with how they've started Pac-12 play. They're down their PG yes, and that seems to have really derailed them to some extent, but they did beat Baylor (probably the #1 team tomorrow) early in the season and are still talented and well coached. Also, playing them at home is NOT an easy place to play by any means. Is it a game we should reasonably expect to win to build momentum and boost the resume? Absolutely. Will there be a letdown like ASU? Hopefully not, but we've seen this before.
I will say instead of a fantastic 7-8 minutes of basketball to try and build on we have an entire 40 minutes of really good basketball to go off of. The aggression we saw out of all five starters was a thing of beauty (and we outrebounded a team I thought we had ZERO chance in hell of outrebounding). Right now I'm about where I was coming into the season with how I feel about this team, which is cautiously optimistic. I keep seeing the way we CAN play, now I just need to see it more consistently.
Also to your point about the shortened bench, while in the 2nd half the bench was shortened significantly, I thought WT did a good job rotating guys in at certain points in the first half. It didn't show much in the box score as far as bench minutes go, but I thought that was instrumental in keeping momentum at points in the first half, as well as keeping the guys fresh enough to go on the run they did in the 2nd half. Also I love seeing SMM run around and make athletic plays and his dunk after the Tres feed in the first half was a big bucket that got the crowd (which while small, was fairly loud) into it.
Here's to hoping we see a sweep next week and get a fired up and full Gill when they come back home.

Tres should not be playing 77 minutes over a two-game homestand, unless one of the games goes into overtime. Tres is much more efficient with a little more rest. Otherwise, I agree with everything that you said.

More positive news is that the 17 point margin of victory means that we didn’t necessarily have to shoot lights out to win the game. Yes, I know that it doesn’t mean we can miss 5 more FG’s and 6 FT’s and win still win. It doesn’t work that way, but we won big, so there was a good margin for error. I’ll have to watch again, but it felt like we were creating easy opportunities through good plays. For once we weren’t missing point blank layups. It also means that we didn’t let up and take the lead for granted, which I think it another positive lesson for this group. Hopefully it continues, and we don’t play down to the level of competition going forward.

If Wayne had shortened the bench in the 2nd half of this game, we'd hear whining about how he messed with the chemistry with substitutions.
I get it about other games and getting the bench going, but this game ... yea, let it ride. I loved every bit of running up a 20pt margin. Wish it was 40.

Needed to have players who were focused on the D end. 4 min break down in first half made the decision easy at the half. Came from his own mouth in his post game.
