Freaking crazy... WT just lucky no one gets hurt. There'd be no way in hell to justify this. Plus, I get pressing up 20+ to work on it... with subs who need the work. Tucker, SMM get taken out with one mistake. Of course they force things, they never see the floor! Subs getting sporadic time throughout has zero to do with TT, AH, ET, KK in up 30+ with under 5min vs a team that couldn't catch up playing 5 on 0. I’ve been critical of WT and use of bench — well maybe not as critical as you — but I can see his thought process on this one. I thought he did pretty good job of mixing in subs throughput game and those are the most important minutes for them — in with at least 2 and probably better 3 starters. They hadn’t played for 2 weeks so he brings full first team for a stretch to give them time as full unit and then brings in subs en made for last 3 minutes. No problem with that at all. No issue with what you said. But, you get in overall shape during practice. The starters got their run. My issue was the last 5min. The game got a little rougher, out of control bodies, etc. There was no need for the guys listed to be on the floor during that time.

Glad the fellas took care of business against an awful opponent. There’s been too many seasons where tonight would have been a little bit of a struggle. But I gotta admit, I’m really surprised we felt like we needed Tres to play 32 minutes and Ethan played even more w 35. Lucas meanwhile only plays 11, even though he managed 12 points. Just seemed odd. Not necessarily a big deal by any means, but still sort of a strange decision.

Took care of business.....Christ they won by 34....I was in attendance and APB was to say the least terrible but I get WTs thoughts tonight. 2 weeks off, the subs got minutes and the starters worked on zone traps, man and a 1-3-1 that may come in handy down the road....good effort against a really bad opponent

I agree that seems like too many minutes for them in that game, but it would be interesting to know how much of Tres and Ethan’s time on the floor was in a lineup with at least one bench player versus all starters. As I mentioned in previous post,, the important minutes for the bench players are when playing in a lineup with mostly starters and especially Tres and Ethan because when they’re really needed in conference that is with whom they’ll be playing. That can’t happen if those starters aren’t playing minutes. It is a balancing act made a little more difficult tonight because they hadn’t played for 2 weeks so WT wanted to get main unit time together. Having said all that, I do think other coaches navigate that balancing act better than WT. But in games like this, I want to see the majority of Lucas, Hunt, Vernon, Silva and SM-M’s time come with at least 2 or 3 starters on the floor so they can gain that experience and develop chemistry with the starters. Always fun to see all bench players on the floor because it means game is well in hand, but for development purposes that time has very little value.

I think sm&m will be gone after this year. Great athlete but can’t get any minutes.... tinkle doesn’t want to lose his job after this season so working on his resume. We really haven’t played anybody NO reason not to get his bench ready for pac 12 the seasoned guys have plenty of pac 12 experience. I thought this recruiting class was supposed to be really helpful? I am critical I suppose. The coach is hard to figure out. There is never any news with regard to OSU recruiting either. Silence is puzzling.

What if they had a coach like big Tink? Apparently they are the worst turnover team in all the land. But beavs managed to keep pace with them. 19 turnovers. Egads.

34pt win drops RPI down 32 positions ... wow. Not the biggest mover, but pretty telling.

34pt win drops RPI down 32 positions ... wow. Not the biggest mover, but pretty telling. Plain and simple the AD needs to do a better job of scheduling OOC games. You can have a few of these cupcake games, especially after a two week layoff, but year after year we have too many of them. Basketball schedules are mostly made no more than 1-2 years in advance too so unlike football it is pretty clear how good your opponents are going to be when you schedule them. Our SOS right now is 337th out of 353 teams, and weakest in the conference according to KenPom which is unacceptable. Can't do much now except play the teams on our schedule and take care of business (which all credit to the guys they have been), but I can't help but think our weak OOC schedule is gonna hurt us come selection time when we are likely a bubble team.

OSU has a tournament in the Cayman Islands and they play at Iowa State.. so that's 4 games.. plus they will play fewer OOC games thanks to 20 game league schedule starting next season.. so it should be upgrade

A couple predictors have OSU missing the tourney for just that reason... 11-1/9-9/20-10 but (17) games vs Quad 3 and 4 level teams... 16-1 record. However 4-8 vs Quad 1 and 2. Ending RPI 70+ range and League SOS 104/NC SOS 348. A 3-way tie for 6th with lowest NET and RPI. Pac12 also seen as the 7th rated NET conference at this time, 4th in RPI... with 10-15 record in Quad 1 games at this time. Ucks having played 1/5 of those (5 games), only team with multiple Ws (3). Right now UW, Buffs, Furd, ucks, Zona, Utes, ASU seen as the only teams ending with RPI of better than 60. CS Northridge loss to Pacfic drops OSU 7 pts to 101... a win by them would have been a 35-36 pt bump! With all the crap teams on the schedule each one of their losses will continue to haunt OSU. Only (2) teams on OSU's NC schedule are predicted to have winning seasons (Santa Barbra and Grambling), others to be 16-25 games losers. Not sure how much weight on put on predictive algorithms, but in any case OSU can't afford to lose ANY remaining NC games and can't be less than 10-8 wit 2 wins in the Pac12 tourney to hope for a tourney berth.

I love watching Lucas play. What a sweet stroke, with a quick release. He is so confident when he shoots, and plays really hard. He works hard on D too, and will need to in order to be a complete player at the Pac 12 level. There’s a reason the kid passed Casey Jacobsen for the all-time California High school scoring record, but it’s the fact that he wants to keep working on all aspects of his game that excites me the most.

I don't really know what to expect out of either team. Iowa State has a good win against Seton Hall (also a loss to them on neutral court) and played Michigan fairly tough on a neutral court as well. They also got blown out at home to an unranked but decent Iowa team. Oklahoma got blown out by Stanford and choked away a game at Wichita State but have wins over OSU, Minnesota, and Missouri. They've also squeaked by two teams they probably should have beaten more handily than they did. I'd be surprised if they get dominated in league play, but they may not finish much better than ~18-14 or something along those lines, the big-12 is a strong league.

Lucas did put up a rushed, off balance clanker on friday but that's the first time i have seen that. He usually has good form and squares up, not a lot of wasted motion and can get a smooth release from the catch. He needs more attempts in these ooc games and they need to have a couple of sets to locate him on the baseline and also about 10 feet back of the elbow. He needs to be a designated sharp shooter who spots up every time. Not expecting huge minutes for him until he finds a way to play D without fouling and getting exposed for lack of quickness but you can never have enough pure shooters and he needs the wattage turned up on the green light for him.
