One of the things mentioned after we struggled with Liberty was a lack of energy. The usual issues were listed like three time zones away, an early game, play two days in a row, Liberty came out with the energy of an upset etc. The one that hit me was the attendance for that game, I heard a crazy number like 652?! They weren't able to get any energy from them. Let's go over 6000 and help the team out.

652 - just like playing at USC.
I don't think we'll get 6,000 for this one, but about 7X what they had at the Liberty game.

And 652 may have been tickets sold, because this statement appeared in the Recap section on the ESPN site:
"Not that many got to see Rueck's big moment. The arena was almost completely empty, with perhaps no more than 50 fans in attendance."

The 652 figure must have included people who bought package tickets for both days, or at least for both games on Saturday. Miami doesn't normally draw well to begin with. Oh well, the 2 wins there helped move us up nicely.

As sparse as the crowd was, they could still make some noise. 50 people in a big arena you would probably be able to hear everything anyone said in the building. That would be just bizarre.

I am not sure if the crowd will be very big tonight. There is the winter festival downtown, the PAC12 football championship on TV and the GT did not mention the women's game for some reason. Hopefully there will be a respectable crowd. Maybe we will be loud.

On the post-game radio show after the Hawaii game, it was mentioned that the Beaver staff counted the attendees in the arena for the Liberty game......and came up with 36.
Go Beavers!

You all do understand that the Liberty game was in Miami, FL and not Gill.

It's just a shame that more people aren't interested in watching WBB. Before I started watching, I didn't realize what a great product WBB was, especially at the elite college level and the WNBA. It is obviously catching on though altough still lagging way behind the men. I have grown to enjoy WBB much more than the mens game.

We're lucky to be OSU fans where the program does draw large, engaged, enthusiastic crowds.

I wonder how many people would have gone to Gill on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to watch Miami play Liberty. My guess is less than 1000, even it were free.
