i get why the 49ers moved out of Candlestick park. it was antiquated, foggy, cold, and earthquake damaged. And now they are a legit NFL power again.
But they aren't "San Fran" anything now. I don't care what their helmets say. I lived in The City during the Seifert Steve Young superbowl era. They were truly representative of San Francisco then. Not any more. Santa Clara officials were too easy. They should have insisted the team use the name of their place since they are using the town as their headquarters. Santa Clara has absolutely nothing to do with San Fran. It's not even a suburb. Some day when the Trailblazers move to Salem... It's always good to have a reason to like/dislike NFL teams. Adds interest to an otherwise predictable and locked down spectacle. Any 49er fans want to tangle on this issue?

Just kills me when they are on TV and the broadcast goes to commercial and shows the usual montage of Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz or Fisherman's Wharf. Just a short 90 minute drive away.

It's based on the assumption that you the viewer are just dumb enough not to know better. And now with the raiders movin on up to that deluxe penthouse in the sky, the 49ers dont have to compete with another franchise for the entire bay area. Although they are actually the San Jose 49ers, they want to hang on to the "San Fran" name to keep another team from actually representing the peninsula.

How about the Washington Redskins play their home games in Maryland.

Interesting that MetLife Stadium is only 11.3 miles from NYC City hall, FedEx Field is 11.9 miles from DC City hall, even though they are in "different States".
University of Phoenix Stadium is 16.5 miles from Phoenix City Hall (at least they call themselves the Arizona Cardinals) - Sun Devil Stadium was 12 miles away. AT&T Stadium is 18.4 miles from Dallas City Hall. The Dolphins play 18.9 miles from Miami City Hall. Gillette Stadium is 27.3 miles from Boston, but they are just the "New England" Patriots. Still the most egregious award goes to San Fran as Levi's is 42.3 miles from downtown SF.

Works for the red sox and celtics...

They should have called in Inspector Harry Callahan. He did a good job of enforcing the law at Kezar Stadium.

Grew up with the DeBerg and Montana Niners. Miserable days and great years. Certainly, I have traveled a lot since then, and I admit that I hated them for trading away Montana, but I have always kept tabs on the team. Certainly, I would have cut all ties with them if they had been renamed the Santa Clara 49ers.
I hope they make it back to the Bay Area again someday. Loved the foggy games.

Or... who cares? you, obviously since you bothered to post. At least you left off the usual baseaballauthority drivel usually accompanying your bombastic drivel.
