Let's put this into perspective. Of the #1/#2 seeds that have played two games, Oregon State has the largest combined margin of victory, at 71 points. South Carolina has 64 points, Baylor 62 points. I like our odds to get to the Final Four. Very few teams can withstand their third period lock down defense. They may have to play like that all 60 minutes to beat Connecticut, but I'll worry about then when we get there. I will add however, we will have a tough time beating any of the #1 seeds... UConn would have to lose, no one is beating them. SC, BAYLOR are also very very impressive. ND is the weak #1 IMHO. I love that we pounced on a #15 and a #10 as we should. DePaul beat a very good Louisville on their home court. No sure thing headed into Dallas, especially if we keep thinking just the 3-ball will do it. Ooops.

And here is my analysis of the upcoming UConn game, based upon what they did to Texas the other night: UConn shot over 57% from the floor, compared to a respectable 43% by Texas. One-half of UConn's floor points came from beyond the arc. They also made 87.5% of their FT's. They had 8 team fouls, to Texas' 19. Like Baylor did to us, they got Texas in foul trouble. But, Texas outrebounded them, and lead 11-6 on offensive rebounds. Texas took nine more shots than UConn, but missed too many of them. UConn won every period, but especially pulled away in the 2nd period. Both teams had very few turnovers. So, Rueck and Co. win by swarming them when they are beyond the arc, playing lock down when they are trying to get in the paint, controlling the glass, limiting turnovers, staying out of foul trouble, and forcing them to foul us as we drive the lane. It will take 40 minutes of near perfect basketball to do it. Do I think it's possible? Hell yes I do. Destiny awaits in Indy. Time to get it done! GO BEAVS!!

I'll add to your synopsis in that we will be very similar to Texas except SR basically only played (trusted??) 7 players vs Baylor... Sam got her minutes when both Ruth and Gulich got their fouls. If we get into any early foul trouble guarding their size and speed... their PG is a step or two above anyone we've faced... our lack of depth will hurt. We had the bench that sufficed for Pac12 play, but our 2nds versus UConn starters will not be pretty. One of the most underrated aspects of UConn is their unselfish play and making the extra pass. They might shoot the 3, but I'm betting Geno tries to go right at us... make us guard people and get us in early foul trouble. We need to play very good position D and play with a 'cushion'... make them shoot the jumper. It's going to be a tough adjustment as we're a in your face/pressure D. I might even change it up and toss in some zone. I fully expect to be yelling at the "zebras" the entire game as I do not expect too many calls to go our way.

You people didn't get my point because I wrote so badly, but to me it is still valid. Last year the Athletic Department created a balloon drop for the women in their last game of the year and they got beat, and the balloons just stayed in the rafters. I think however, the most famous last game a Beaver team ever lost at Gill was a men's game. Senior night, bringing in parents and planning special activities just takes away from trying to play the game. I never really liked the Senior day at Reser for football games. I just wish the celebration for a final game would be toned down and perhaps take place after the completion of a game, not before it.

What is wrong with Senior Night (or Senior Day, if it's baseball) In my opinion, it takes nothing away from the game, but instead adds to it. These athletes have given us as many as four (and sometimes five or six) years of their lives. They, their parents, and their fans deserve their moment of glory. Many of the parents have quietly supported both their sons/daughters, and the program too, behind the scenes. Some will continue to do so, long after their child has graduated. And who the heck is going to stick around after a game to watch all this? Not me. Game over, time to leave.

I don't think our 1981 home MBB loss had anything to do with it being Senior Day. It had much more to do with a very good 24-4 ASU team with Byron Scott, Alton Lister, Sam Williams and Lafayette Lever.

Every school has Senior Day/Night. Prepping for Senior Night is part of the game just like prepping to play in front of thousands of fans or to play with the conference championship on the line. If it was a big deal, coaches wouldn't have it and Vegas would adjust the betting lines on those games.

So yes, they deserve their moment of glory!

Well, you guys have the right to your opinions and I feel like I have mine. I disagree with the description of the 1981 ASU game vs OSU at Gill. That game was lost in the locker room and probably the previous 24 hours the Beavers had to think about it. That game was a slaughter for a number one ranked undefeated team at home, but I will go a step further, OSU more often than not has lost really significant, big magnitude games that everyone in the country is watching.
Again, this year my hopes are sky high, I mean really up, but GOD, please don't let Connecticut vs OSU end up like Georgetown vs OSU.
Pass the ball incredibly well, dribble little, hit a high percentage of three point shots and the Beavers might make this a game.
