When you started the 2020 post, her top 5 had TX, UCONN and Ore in addition to Stan and OSU. Interesting to see only the Beavs and Stan making the 2nd cut. Smart kid based on the schools listed. Would love to see us pull her from Stan.
Thanks for all of your great recruiting posts!

Thanks for keeping us updated. I am very impressed by this news. In her final two along with the trees. This will, of course, be a battle... however, it shows how well positioned we are with the elite wbb players. Thanks to Scott and his incredible staff, we only need to match Ms Daniels educational and environmental desirables. Of course , myself and all Beaver fans are a little biased, but this young lady has already demonstrated a very analytical and in depth approach to one of the most important decisions in her young life. Would love to see her on campus, and am awaiting her final thoughts.

OK, I don't see where you folks are getting "Stanford and OSU" in her final TWO. I only see her final 6.

Just pointing out that OSU and Stan are the only two schools to make both her lists. Posting skills need some work. I'm also assuming Stan is the leader as they seem to get about every player they offer.

OK, I don't see where you folks are getting "Stanford and OSU" in her final TWO. I only see her final 6. aicandme was referring to an early ESPN article/post on Daniels that said her top-5 was Oregon, Oregon State, Texas, Stanford, and UConn. They were just referring to how it was interesting that only Stanford and OSU were include in her revised group of finalists. On a side note, Stanford already has Belibi, Brink, and Prechtel, all 4/5 players in the 2019/20 classes. Of course we have Mitrovic, Brown, Jones, and Aquino too, so the inn is rather full at both, but Daniels is really versatile, so I could see Rueck trying to turn her into a wing player.

The other 5 are academic heavyweights, and the fact that she has included Princeton would seem to indicate this is not a decision that will be made solely on the merits of the basketball program. It would be good to know what her proposed course of study would be at this point - oceanography would be good.
A plus for us is relative proximity to home. Stanford and Cal are the better part of 1,000 miles, UCLA adds another 350, while Princeton and Duke are clear across the continent.
In any event, there's another homegrown talent that U Dub didn't get. Hopefully, Washington's loss is our gain. Class of Daniels, Van Lith, and Goforth would be extremely impressive.

I think there are two other potential reasons Daniels has OSU in the mix:
1. she knows what I know: the more better bigs the better for big time beaver basketball. 2. she has a huge, best kept secret skill...she knows she can play point guard at OSU, especially if Van Lith decides to go elsewhere.

Very interesting list of 6 schools....Princeton and Duke (assuming she really is serious about them) indicates she is willing to really leave home, and that she is serous about academics and the career benefits of private schooling. The same holds true for Stanford except for the really leaving home part.... Obviously she's got the academics...
Pure speculation on my part, but it looks like what OSU has a going for it right now is Coach Rueck, a great program, and proximity to her family....OSU is her best option for keeping her family integrally involved in her college career....Judging by her list, however, proximity may not be a factor in her thinking....
At any rate, thanks to beaverwbb fan for posting info we've all been waiting for...
P.S. Reading her list of 6 makes me even more interested in her. She sounds like a rather stunning young woman. One of the best h.s. players in America, and bright enough to attend the best universities in America. An impressive combination for a kid who has not begun her senior year in h.s. GO BEAVS !!.

One of the qualities about Dalayah that I'm sure really intrigues that staff is her ability to guard the perimeter at 6'4". At a lot of schools, she is probably a 4/5, but I see her playing mostly 4 and maybe at times a little bit of 3 at OSU. Her ability to guard the perimeter would allow her and Kennedy Brown to play together with another true post like Taylor, Trish, or Jelena. She really adds another layer of versatility to the team at 6'4".
Stanford already has Brink and Belibi, both of which are, IMO, rather similar to Daniels, and they also have the 6'5" Prechtel.
Another tidbit is she is very familiar with Taya Corosdale, as both play AAU for Tree of Hope, and seem to have remained in touch on social media.

Based on the ESPN story, our program seems like a perfect fit. Her comments are a sales pitch to join the Beavers. Let's keep our fingers crossed on Dayalah, I think she would be a great fit here.
"I am looking for a college team with a family atmosphere," said Daniels, who has a 3.87 GPA and is interested in studying psychology. "I have seven siblings who molded me into the person I am today, and I want that same type of family feeling in college."
"A stable and savvy coaching staff also is important."
"I want to make sure the coaching staff I pick will be at that school all four years I'm there," Daniels said. "I also want coaches who know how to use me.
"There are a lot of coaches who don't know how to use a 6-4 girl with skills. I want a coach who will not only put me in one position but put me everywhere."

Tara being at Stanford all four years could potentially raise a red flag. I know Mik was worried Tara wouldn't still be there when Mik was a senior, but of course she would have been. Not sure I see Tara going anywhere with Belibi, Jones, Brink, Demetre, and more coming in though. The staff has definitely had a long-standing relationship with Dalayah, and she has certainly been considering both us and Stanford for a very long time.
My guess is Rueck may have plans to use her as a 3/4 -- but just being a class behind Taylor, Kennedy, Jelena, and Andrea, it could be tough to find minutes, but Dalayah has a ton of talent and skill, so I think she could find a spot.
I know Baylor at times used three bigs last year and found it extremely effective, so I would think with the talent level of ours we could do something similar, especially if we land Dalayah.
