My understanding is that we commit to our athletes a full four years, regardless of whether they ever play. In the unlikely circumstance that AA relinquishes her spot on the roster to make room for someone else, she'll still have her schollie (subject to maintaining academic eligibility).
My further understanding is that now every Pac-12 school does as much. I think the conference made that a rule just recently.

Gigi Garcia is a RS Jr. at Washington who has never played a single minute, I think it's fairly safe to say at this point she will never see the court.

Unless rules have changed, schools may offer multi year schollies (since like 2011??), but are not required to do so. Most seem to be one year and are typically renewed. I also think once signed and a player is found to have a medical condition that keeps them from playing there is a process to keep them on scholarship, but not count against the sport's total allotment. But, it's the NCAA... I don't try to keep up too much on all their over governing.

They don't leave until Tuesday. Henry is correct. The team leaves for Italy on August 20 and is scheduled to return to the US on August 31. Aquino participates in some practice activities. Tudor continues to participate in more and more non-contact drills and activities. Mitrovic is working to regain strength in her injured/knee. Incoming freshmen Jones and Brown are impressing the returning players with their effort and overall play. Jones and Brown will be active contributors to the team's success out of the gate. Very encouraging news is being shared by observers as to how Jones and Brown are acclimating to this level of competition.

She was ranked the #1 post player in her class and a top-10 player in her class by Prospects Nation for quite some time (she ultimately ended #2 post and 16th overall) -- and she drew offers from a ton of big-time schools. Prospects Nation also said she drew comparisons to Lauren Cox for her length and mobility (high praise as a lot of mock drafts have Cox #1 over Sabrina) -- all while playing some of the elite posts in Texas (Queen Egbo, NaLyssa Smith, Sedona Prince).

I find it disconcerting that the Athletic Dept. does not inform the public of her status. Is she cleared to play, or not. I find it hardly fair if a prospective season ticket holder might be basing a decision on season tx., based on the health of AA. It seems to me the fans, by now, are owed an answer to this question. Out.

Out. If you're buying based on one particular player you shouldn't! Those that "matter" know, otherwise HIPPA restrictions could be in play with any announcement concerning health issues.

HIPPA is an excellent reason. Also - there are SO MANY new and not-so-new good players to watch/follow on the Beavs WBB Team that AA is pretty much just a ‘bonus’’ at this point.

Gotta consider this very, make that VERY, good news....With the AA decision still up in the air it is vital that the Beavs get significant mileage out of Brown and Jones this season. Hopefully, we will learn a bit about what kind of impact they are making during the Italy trip, but that will depend greatly on the quality of the competition we square up against on this trip.
Right now I'm banking on bhf's connections. And the optimism his report brings....
Shifting gears: beaverwbb fan has completed his interesting and informative overview of all Pac-12 teams for the coming season. It is found in another thread and it is certainly worth the read...Thanks beaverwwbb fan.... GO BEAVS !!

You can leave HIPPA totally out of it, just tell us if AA will play or not, pretty simple.. No need to go into whatever the health issues are, I think they do owe us that much.

I worked in Health Care industry 40 years. I know all about HIPPA. I can't see how divulging a yes or No answer would be any violation. I think the loyal Wbb fans deserve as much. JMO.

I have also worked in Healthcare for many years, so I know it is "HIPAA" not "HIPPA". Heath Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Sorry.
