I am no great OF defense purveyor so honest question..
He probably had a shot to catch it, but Cespedes was in the way... So the real question was should he have been back up better, so that only ends up being a double or triple???

Cespedes and Conforto have had several near misses in the OF this year. Candidly...it looked like Mike's ball. I only saw the replay and not real time. But I don't know how he can call off Cespedes.
Scorer gave the E to Cespedes. And that's probably right as Cespedes played the ball
how's that for straddling the fence?

Pat Casey was asked that question today on the Joe Beaver Show. He said it was absolutely CF's ball. He thinks CF wasn't ready to field a hit on the first pitch. He mentioned it is an unwritten rule that you never show up the star by taking a ball away but that Conforto could have made the play easily had he not deferred to CF. He also said Conforto manned up and took responsibility for the miscue like a good teammate.

Agree that it was Cespedes ball. All the way.

That's the Center fielder's ball if he calls it. Conforto's mistake was not relinquishing enough real estate to make a play on the Error. Tough play, center field to blame for results.
