Kind of ironic that Destiny makes AA HM when Mikayla will likely be OSU MVP.

Exactly! Destiny is a tremendously talented player and fun to watch and may very well be the MVP of the team the next couple years. We'll have to wait and see how that shakes out. But this year, I think most of us would consider Mik the team MVP. It's a shame she doesn't get more attention across the country, but those of us who see her often know what a great season she had.

Love that Destiny made Honorable Mention. Loved even more Aleah’s semi-controlled outrage on Twitter that Mik was passed over.

Good for Destiny. GO BEAVS! Love Destiny, but I have a hard time thinking that MIK was not at least H.M.

A sign of EI is when we can celebrate someone's success without detracting from it in any way, shape or form.

I bet Mik is celebrating Destiny's success without even thinking about herself. We should be able to do the same.
If we want to talk about who we think should be all american then we should start a new thread.

McDonald of Arizona is a fine player. She is nowhere as good an all-around player as Mikayla Pivec.

Destiny is the first Beav who I've heard the crowd just gasp at what she is able to do. Well deserved acknowledgment. Eagerly await next year to see what she can do with a season of Beaverball under her belt.

Oh wow. Destiny gets some recognition and we need to comment about how someone else should have gotten the award, and list Destiny's perceived imperfections? Please, let's not go down Tennessee's rabbit hole. Couldn't we just be happy for Destiny?

All-Star team selections usually favour players who possess exceptional offensive skills; players who over power and outclass the opposition with their spectacular skill set..These players are exceptional, they stick in one's mind. They are latched onto and promoted by the sports media, they are fan favourites, casual fans know their names....
Players with all around talent, with solid skills in ALL phases of the game, who draw the toughest defensive assignments, who excel in all of the silent phases of the game take much longer for most observers to think of as "exceptional."
This is not universally true, but to me it serves as a general guideline.
In my experience it is not rare for an end of the year coach to say something to this effect: "Yeh, Smith got the most recognition this year, and she IS a great player. We love having her on the team. But Jones was the glue to our team, she was our MVP because she did everything we asked of her and she did it superbly - and she did it everyday."
Anyway, just an observation from a fan watching another season fade into the sunset, with another looming on the distant horizon... GO BEAVS !!

Most important to me is that Destiny is a team player as well as a very talented player full of heart and energy. I think it is probably difficult for her to adjust to Reuck’s controlled discipline approach to offense but she is getting there. She is doing better than the bull in the china shop. I look forward to great play from her next year.

Twitter posts relating to this by one of our players shows signs of discord between them. Social Media = stay off players!!!
