Oregon State already is involved in a Title IX lawsuit. At least the school was being investigated a few months ago. I may not like how this ends.

So we have to add another women's sport or drop a men's sport, correct? Yikes.

It was the obvious sport to go - no facility and competing in a conference which dominates the sport.

Do all our women's sports allot the maximum number of scholarships? Could be as simple as diverting scholarship dollars to other sports. I believe Title IX just states that there need to be equal opportunities for men and women in athletics...i.e. same number of scholarships allotted.

Beach Volleyball is pretty much a no-brainer to replace it. No extra recruiting expenses, few additional expenses of any kind, and it helps our indoor VB program. But it only allows 6 scholarships, Swimming has 14.
My vote to replace it: Women's Rugby. 12 schollies. Uses existing facilities. So far only a few schools in the northeast have it, but my bet is that it grows - if for no other reason than it's the cheapest 12 schollies in the whole Title IX system.

Add women's wrestling. Olympic Sport. Pacific and Simon Fraser already have varsity teams. OSAA this year added women's division championships at state.

Kinda tells you something when the only posts on this sport in literally years happen when the sport is dropped.

NCAA Women's Bowling would be my pick. We have the facility and my wife and I would volunteer to coach.

A little more expensive than rugby to operate, but there are other west coast lacrosse teams which may make that an option

I hope the Athletic Dept can withstand the anger from all the important swimming boosters and swimming season ticket holders.
