Some notable stats:The Good: Goodman: 17 points (6-10 FG, 5-7 3FG) Washington: 19 points (8-10 FG), 7 rebounds, 3 assists Pivec: 21 points (6-10 FG, 1-1 3FG, 8-8 FT), 7 rebounds Slocum: 8 assists Corosdale: 9 rebounds Grymek: 4 points (2-2 FG), 3 rebounds, 2 blocks Team: Outrebounded them 41-30, 76 points (55% FG, 44% 3FG), gave up 55 points (25% FG, 7% 3FG). The not so Good:
Slocum: 5 turnovers Pivec: 5 turnovers Corosdale: 1-5 FG, 3 Turnovers Team: 22 turnovers, 22 fouls (not good with thin bench) After this game I am thinking the "most likely to make the Kolbie leap" top candidates this season are Maddie and Aleah. But Pivec continues to grow, Destiny is starting to fit the system, Taya is getting a great nose for the ball, Jo is still making progress, KTMac is a stabilizing presence.......would like to see some more development out of Jazz and PM for days like today where it was becoming a foul war of attrition..... Doing this without 12 ppg out of Kat and Thropay not available is impressive. Go Beavers! Scott tried to get Jasmine some minutes with the big lead but she picked up 2 fouls in 5 minutes of play and was ineffective on D. She's got some work ahead of her. A certain poster here felt that Jasmine's club ball experience in Australia would more than adequately prepare her for NCAA D1/Pac-12 play and that she would be an immediate contributor. I disagreed and It looks like I'm being proven correct. I do expect to see her improve as she is young and talented and athletic.

Jazz has a lot of time to improve behind and with some really, really good guards. Pivec, Tudor, Goodman, and Slocum will all be back next season. We should be even deeper next year. At this point, we are about 7 or so deep. Next year, we will lose two there, but Kat and Janessa will return, and Aquino, Brown, Jones, Simmons, and Morris will all look to crack the rotation too.

On a different thread, I opined that the "crowd" USC might look to draw strength from would probably be in the neighborhood of 700. The actual number was 641. Pathetic.

But unbeknownst to all of you, and known only to those of us with the deepest contacts on the WBB program, Jasmine is suffering from an unusually prolonged and rare case of Australian jetlag. It's only after her peculiar affliction resolves that I'll be vindicated, and then someone will have egg on their face!

Totally impressive road trip. Always tough to sweep on the road, but the Beavers roared without two key players. Really impressed.

I'm surprised she isn't a stronger defender. In her Aus games, she would get in passing lanes often and create instant offense. Rueck doesn't allow his defense to gamble, and his teams don't get a lot of steals as a result; he's much more bout position defense/defensive field goal %. That style adjustment for Simmons looks to be bigger than I expected. Or the other possibility is that I have no clue.

In practice, it was pretty obvious that Jaz is way behind the others in knowing where to be on D. But, then again, coach said as much about Destiny when she arrived . . .

I think we were very lucky to have two freshman step up last season. Aleah and Taya were both quick learners and able to contribute pretty quickly. This year, that has not so much been the case, but we we have a plethora of really good guards and Maddie and Jo have been playing really well lately. Hopefully we can get Taylor and Kennedy up to speed quick next year.
