I didn't watch the game today, but I think SR's postgame comments answered a lot of questions that have been mentioned in this thread. What was the emphasis this week? Rebounding. What has been his biggest surprise this year? Watching what happens at the 5 spot.
If the challenges of Vancouver emphasised anything, it was that the Beavers were still lacking in inside toughness and rebounding. Janessa, Jo, and Maddie (along with TC) are going to be the ones who provide the the inside defense, etc. and the coaches have to find out how each one fits with this team. As much as Trish needs experience, it's most likely one of those three (or all three) who are going to provide the post presence in Pac12 play and beyond. It's those three that need to be playing with and getting the experience with the rest of the team, and tonight's chance to start and play the most minutes went to Maddie. Again, I didn't see the game, but statistically, Maddie had really good numbers, as did Janassa. It's going to be interesting watching this play out this year, but I think it's likely all three play major rolls up front. Trish will get her shot next year, with a year in the program under her belt.

I don't think this game means too much in respect to who will get the most playing time this season. It is as Scott said- an opportunity to try different players at different positions. All I think it means is that the team will adjust the five according to who they are playing. I don't think this game is any solid evidence that Trish will not play a role this season. This is not the type of team where Trish's length would be essential, rather where players such as Mattie or other players one the team could be inserted into playing the five. They also seemed to have tried different defensive combinations in this game as well. If this game means anything it's probably that nothing is set in stone yet. It was just the staff experimenting. There are going to be teams where the combinations run in this game will not work and they will need to go with height period. I think we can expect to see a lot of different line ups this season, dictated by who they are playing and game circumstances.

Don't like these games vs. a really over-matched opponent. Jasmine is going to be a very, very good OSU player. Jaz was definitely nervous during her initial 5 minutes, but then settled into a better flow. Strange game in that Destiny fouled out, Pivec air-balled a free throw, and Maddie Washington air-balled an open 2-footer at the rim. Some good moments were Taya's passing from the post. Taya is very important to this team, as important as any OSU player. I also really like that Taya is now driving to the hoop and forcing defenders to not just guard Taya at the 3-point line. I was sitting courtside yesterday, and whoever commented on Patricia Morris not looking happy was spot on. Sitting so close to the players is fun cause you see their emotions on the court. Kat Tudor is a gamer. She gets so upset at herself, mutters under her breath at herself, and then gets herself fired up. Kat did this numerous times, and then comes down and nails a 3-pointer. Kat works very hard on the defensive side, really liking Kat's attitude and game. Has anyone else noticed that Pivec no longer is driving inside the key and picking up her dribble and getting trapped? Pivec now keeps her dribble alive and as a result, either scores or finds the open player, avoiding the defensive trap in the key. Pivec is playing very well right now--just needs to continue to improve her free throw percentage. Glad this game is behind us, so we can get back to playing some teams that will improve OSU team.

Seems that last year about this time, Taya had to sit for the majority of about 2 games on a east coast road trip. It seemed that Scott was wanting something on the floor from her that she was not providing. It wasn't too long after that her playing time increased a lot and she soon became the starter.

Now I wonder why she was so unhappy, but it could be a plethora of reasons, and not one of them could have nothing to do with basketball.

True Freshmen are often unhappy with their lack of playing time.

True Freshmen are often unhappy with their lack of playing time. ...or homesick even. Re: Simmons; I was watching a WBB Facebook post and her release on a lay-in was VERY high, just below the rim. Could have been camera angle to some extent, but whoa! that jumping ability, paired with her full court sprint speed, is pretty impressive.

There is a photo somewhere of Jazz grabbing the rim, not just touching it. At least I seem to remember seeing it. So yes she had some serious springs.

This class may be on of the more raw classes in terms of skill, but there is no doubt that they all have really high ceilings. Jazz is one of the more athletic guards we have seen in Scott’s tenure, just with her leaping and sprinting ability. She will need to develop her shot a little more, but it will get there. She is still getting comfortable because the US and AUS play fairly different styles, so she is just adjusting.

I've heard that photo was a joke...that Destiny helped her to that elevation and stepped back out of the picture. I can't remember who it was that revealed this, but it was an insider who had noted that Jazz was laughing when she heard that message board fans were awed over it.

If she’s 5’10”-ish, jumping up and hanging on the rim would put her vertical at about 30”, which pretty good for a male athlete and would be very rare for a woman. GP2’s vertical was 38”, and he could jump some.

104 seconds of highlights from last Saturday's 100-46 win over LaSalle are accessible in the link below. Some unselfish ball movement resulted in open three-point looks.

I just watched the replay of this game last night. Yeah, it says something about my life if I'm watching the replay of a blowout game against La Salle.
Whatever.......if you do, or did, watch this game, you have to admire what a great all around player TC is. SR often refers to her as a "natural", and you can see why. She has probably worked her butt off, but it seems like everything comes easy to her. One thing that really stands out in this game is her passing ability.

If a few more players had converted lay-ups, she may have had a triple double. Remember, she's only an (early season) sophomore...coming off shoulder surgery at that.
