i hope they have the sense to make damn sure it faces south and not north so the stands aren't in the shadows. Also too, since this will probably be an expansion team make the name something not too effing abstract like Thunder or Expo. Something like the Portland Orcas

But I get what you're saying. Maybe the Portland Sandernistas?

Per Dale Murphy on Twitter, he says "(the retractable roof) will retract behind home plate. Giving unobstructed views of Mt. Hood, the Fremont Bridge, Portland skyline."

Looks nice. One way to help pay for the thing is to build it without the roof, but set it up so that it is ready to accept the roof. After a couple of years of playing and not actually needing the roof, they can just mothball the idea forever. With an MLB-quality drainage system, rainouts would be highly unlikely. Sure, fans might feel uncomfortable for a handful of games played in a steady drizzle, but we rarely get the kind of rain that is hard enough to stop an MLB game. I would venture to guess fans get more uncomfortable sitting in the sun for 3 hours on a 95 degree August Sunday afternoon than during a 58 degree drizzly April evening. The glass roof doesn't look like it would provide much shade on those hot summer days.

Stadiums are supposed to be oriented so home, second and CF line up on an East to Northeast axis. So you would look out over the Willamette and toward UP from behind home plate. The main grandstands would be on the west side of the stadium.

Keep roof.... I like to stay dry, and shade from heat. Which is why I sit where I do in Goss. Of course..... $$$$ funding is question for pdx. There’s a hole to fill. If they do it, do it right, Not like Reser.

Do you go with a City or State moniker?
Just hope it's not stupid... I can see the "weird" getting some listen in that place. Luckily The committee is old school. And, too bad "Brewers" is taken!

The main grandstands would be on the west side of the stadium. From Terminal 2, home plate would have to be looking towards the NW to see directly at UP. Looks like there are at least 6 stadiums that face Southeast, which is the direction the stadium would have to look to see Mt Hood or downtown.
